Installing door lights and front fogs on classic

Featured Replies

Succumbed to temptation and bought SWMBO a new 1.2 Classic Furby (the 54bhp one, don't laugh, it's quite nippy and not run in yet) on Saturday. Pleased because it had the trip computer (which I didn't expect). Anyway, wondered if it would be easy to replace the door reflectors with the proper light units (are the wiring terminals just sitting there waiting to be plugged into?) and to install front fogs (ditto, once I've cut holes in the front bumper in the appropriate places).

ps I know it's the wrong thread but does anyone want to sell me their Skoda Symphony CD to replace the cassette my one came with?

In the early days of the Fabia you might have been lucky with the wiring, but I suspect the cost accountants have by now stripped out anything not strictly necessary.

The only way to check will be to have a look yourself e.g. the grilles where the foglights would go are only clipped in with two lugs on the top edge and two at the bottom. Squeeze the black plastic to release them, and check for surplus wires.

If you can get a Symphony CD player, the swap is straightforward if you have the extraction keys.

you'll be cheaper buying an aftermarket headunit than buying a symphony itll sound better too.

Used skoda cd players arent cheap.

Thanks lads, I'll take a look when the weather clears up a bit. On the subject of the CD, we do have a JVC which would go in there just fine and a darn sight more colourful than two tone green of the Skoda unit. But I still think the purpose built job looks good, particularly when it's turned off (ie, no green lights).

Keep an eye on the For Sale section here, and they pop up on eBay occasionally.

I know what you mean about the look. I had a Pioneer ready to go in when I bought mine, fitted it and took it out a few days later - just didn't look right. Maybe it's because of the slightly sombre dash! Everything needs to be black to look right ;)
