HotShot fitting in a Fabia vRS

Featured Replies

Just got a Webasto Hotshot screen cleaner for my vRS, but room seems a bit tight under the bonnet if fitted to the bulkhead.

Has anyone fitted one of these to a vRS? If so please give me a clue as to the best place to fit it, and any other tips.

Thanks

Steve

When you do get it fitted, I'd be really interested in seeing photos of the install.

Sorry I can't be of any help though.

How much was it and where did you get it from?

Looks like a good idea, just did a Google - I'd not heard of it before.

Again, sorry, I can't help with fitting of the module. Maybe try in 'Ask a Tech'? If you provide the dimensions someone might be able to suggest a suitable location?

Steve

I also googled it to find out what it was.

It doesn't look that big on the pics on the website, could it not be fitted under the scuttle panel?

My dad works for Webasto (the heaters bit of them tho)...I will have a word when I see him for any tips.

Definitely interested in this one - please post pics if you can :)

If you get in touch with them, please can you find out how or if it impacts on the headlight washing system, wouldnt want to melt anything :D

Is it really something that we need in this country. OK the screen gets dirty, so the wipers do their bit and its clean again. Cant see it being cost effective at all (IMHO)

It's cheaper than a heated windscreen, which is something else I was looking into though :)

How much is one of these things then? There's nothing I like more than a clean windscreen.... I spend a fortune on washer fluid! :o

Like the look of this but just found it at Demon Tweeks for

The Elegance trim is listed as having heated washer jets as standard, but Big K (IIRC) (and a quick nose under the bonnet) said that this was incorrect and they were only available on cars on the continent - I suspect the vRS may be the same.... :(

Chris

No heated jets on UK cars.

Also they only keep the nozzles frost free, they do nothing to heat the fluid.

My Ford has them :P They're good at defrosting the nozzles and if you put enough anti-freeze in the screenwash they work well ... otherwise you have to wait for the engine to warm up enough to melt the ice in the bottle and the pipes

Chris

Hmm keep getting connection refused for Demon Tweeks :(

OK, cheers for the clarification.

Wonder if anyone with ETKA can have a look to see if heated nozzles exist.

Think the HotShot looks good - potential future mod - in the Autumn maybe...

Like the leccy rear windows, they exist on cars on the continent so you may be able to source the parts. I'm sure they can't be too big and bulky to make shipping cost prohibitive? :D

Chris

Hold on a minute - leccy rear windows and heated jets WERE available on early UK cars... Just not for very long. :thumbdwn:

Leccy rear windows were available on Elegance trim up to 2002 I think. Heated jets never were....... unless you know otherwise :D

Chris

Or on Ebay a couple of weeks ago for around

Ok - apologies for drifting off topic.

I think the unit would fit nicely under the scuttle panel - however you will need replacement clips 2x36p each IIRC.

Or, there is a nice cubby between the bulk head and the engine bay, near the bonnet support. would definitely fit in there, and there is a nice big grommit for feeding pipework, and its close to the battery.
