Front speakers wiring

Featured Replies

Hello,

Apologies if my inadequate search skills lead me to ask something that's been asked before...

Our Mk3 Fabia SE has had both the driver's side doors replaced after some clown drove into the side of it. The stereo hasn't sounded quite right since. Having had half an hour to waste waiting to pick someone up lately, I had a play with the balance/fader and the driver's door speakers sound wrong. Almost as if the bass speaker signal is connected to the tweeter and the tweeter signal is connected to the bass speaker. The bass speaker is quiet and has no bass, the tweeter screams out with loads of mid range. Flicking between the front driver door only and front passenger door only sounds completely different - passenger door sounds fine, driver door sounds horrible.

So, something's not right. Before I go back to the dealer and make a twit of myself, is it possible/likely that they've wired the bass speaker to the tweeter feed from the head unit and the tweeter to the bass speaker feed from the head unit when they replaced the driver's door? Is that something that would be easily possible if someone wasn't paying a great deal of attention, or are they different connectors?

Thanks in advance!!
