Forcing Limp Mode

Featured Replies

My girlfriends octavia 2.0 tdi pd (2008) has a very whistly turbo. The noise has changed to a wheeze and the oil light came on.

I'm suspecting failed turbo or failing. There have been no bangs or anything that suggests its gone completely.

Is there any way to force limp mode so that she can drive home off boost? I know it's not ideal to drive a car in this situation but there's no other alternative to get it to a local garage.

Thanks in advance.

Mad as a hatter to drive with the oil light on at all no matter if off boost or not. If you want to be a moonbeam remove the turbo pipe and go ahead. But tow it is the sensible way, key in ignition to avoid steering lock but not running.

Oil light sorted. Just needed a top up. Still have the turbo issue though. I guess this may have been worsened by the low oil though?

Told her to keep an eye on the oil level but I think it'll be going to a garage for a check up on the turbo. It's not sounding great, done 96k and I know the turbos on the pd's are prone to going.

Edit: wasn't driven once the oil light had come on. She pulled up immediately.

Checked the oil recently and the level was alright so was surprised when it needed topping up!
