Exchange in a AD forest.

Featured Replies

Heeeelllp!

ive added the first child domain to our root domain.. the root domain has the exchange server in it..

i can set users up in the child domain, and give them exchange mailboxes.. that part is ok.

the problem comes with users that are members of the child domain trying to access the exchange box for email.

the mailbox's are valid and correctly setup as i can log into them via webmail or from a login on the root domain.. so i think there may be a permissions issue for the child-domain's authenticated users accessing the exchange server?

is there any way i can check/fix this quickly?

I think you'll need to run setup /domainprep for the other domain

I had run the domainprep previously.. (ran it again anyway lol)

the problem is the child-domain users do not seem to be authenticating properly against the exch box in the root domain. tried a different machine (running xp) and when i try to setup outlook for exchange mail whilst logged in as a child domain user it asks for another password for the exchange server.. if i put in the same childdomain/user and password... it works! surely it should automatically authenticate with the accounts being for the same user? - it works like this for me as a admin:O
