Dog Crate For Hatchback

Featured Replies

Any member carrying their dog in a crate in their S3 hatch?

If so, any recommendations would be appreciated,

Thanks, Phil

I made a request on this forum for information on dog crates and Inoffski pointed me in the direction of Lintran.  I have recently taken delivery of a Lintran dog crate (model 2006) which is one of their standard models that fits my 2011 Superb estate (and will fit my SIII estate when I take delivery in about 4 weeks).   Lintran do a whole range of dog crates, some standard models that fit a range of cars as well as some bespoke versions for specific models.  I am sure that if you went onto their website, you would find they have just what you need.  If not I would recommend calling them as I found them to be very helpful.

I am delighted with mine (as are my 2 retrievers).  Although not the cheapest it is very robust and I feel would protect both the dogs and my little (!!) pink body in the event of an accident.  It also keeps the dogs cool on a hot day because of it's construction.  I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for and I think the Lintran is a quality product at a reasonable price.

Hope this helps

Thanks pilkers I'll give them a try. I have a crate in my S2 estate for my Lab but it does not fit the upcoming S3 hatch.

I always have either a tailgate guard or fitted crate in my cars... as a result of paranoia that my dogs could escape in a crash... All are custom built for the specific models.

I always use a company called Barjo - Based in Wokingham Berkshire - though they ship UK wide. On occasion I have actually gone there for fitting as it is free and if I'm having my trim drilled, I would rather it be by a company I can trust.

Obviously with the Cages there's no drilling involved.

My cage for the Superb Estate fits so snugly I would hazard a guess I'm only losing an inch, if that, all round. It was reassuringly snug trying to install it! I'm sure it wasn't a pretty sight as I clambered around doing so!

Unfortunately I can't attach a pic from work - but their website is easy to find. I've also seen the aftermath of some pretty serious rear shunts where the back end of the car is mush... but the crate is intact - amazing.

Also recommend Hatchbag for boot liners. Again specifically tailored for each vehicle.

Yep thanks for that. Like I said I currently use a cage in my S2 estate but finding a cage that fits the upcoming S3 hatch is proving difficult. I'm guessing most manufacturers presume owners have estates.

Barjo will make to order. :-) So even if it's not 'orderable' on their website they'll make it for you. :-)
