Dogluvr's got a new motor...

Featured Replies

Good morning all you lovely people!

I took delivery of my new Skoda Superb SE L Executive 2.0 TDI Estate in Brilliant Silver, on the 1st September.

As well as the fact she is beautiful and turns heads, I am totally in love!

I haven't had much chance to drive her as a few days after delivery we went on holiday for a fortnight!

I've been lurking for a while now and wanted to share some things and hopefully confirm some others...

1: 400 on the clock and averaging 53.6mpg - bearing in mind most of my driving is up and down the Chiltern hills - 40mpg on the way to work up hill... 65mpg on the way home, pretty equal to my 1.5 Megane Sports Tourer. Seems pretty good to me - thoughts?

2: I got a Dash Cam... Boot Liner... Dog Crate if anyone wants any info.

3: Can someone tell me how I know if it's a 16 or 17 build? And what difference it makes?

4: I too have the 'seat programming' issue and am working through the resolutions elsewhere before accepting it may have to go to the dealer.

5: Unfortunately (or fortunately) I didn't have a 'new build' so have an after market tow bar - worried about how the electronic hand break works for hill starts towing!

Any other little hints or tips? At the moment I've nowhere near discovered everything... in fact I've just about found the indicators, lights and wipers!

Looking forward to being part of the community and hopefully not having any niggles!

Welcome along.

Reference your points:

  1. I log my fuel usage in a Fuelly account and the details can be seen in my signature below (bear in mind I'm running a DSG box)
  2. I'm sure that will be useful for other owners, yes
  3. I suspect it will be a MY16 - I think the cut off is week 22 production but can't be sure
  4. What issues are these - I have no problems with my seats
  5. I have an aftermarket towbar but use it for bike rack only, I'm sure others tow properly and can advise on the auto handbrake

Thanks Coops

1. will look at Fuelly - I always used to calculate manually but since having computers I figured they're as close as damnit.

2. Hope so :-)

3. Week 22 being? I know it was being built Mid June 'ish.

4. Can't get the seat positions to programme. No beep!

5. Thanks - it's only a little caravan but the lack of muscle from the Megane and the reviews made me opt for the Skoda.

Welcome Dogluvr and thanks for replying to my post about Boot liners yesterday.

Am wondering if I have a long lost twin - I'm picking up my SEL Estate on Saturday and also going from a Megane Sport Tourer! (not a bad car but had a few build quality issues and it shredded tyres).

I've got the factory towbar as an option and will probably only hook it up to a bike carrier.

Mine's a 17 build - says so on the order form but don't know how to find out any other way.

Interested to know what the seat issues are as one of the first things I'll need to do is program in settings for myself and SWMBO which will be as different as they can possibly be!

3: Can someone tell me how I know if it's a 16 or 17 build? And what difference it makes?

AFAIK the most obvious is the rear view mirror. Framed = MY16, frameless = MY17.

MY17 has a few tweaks in the infotainment which include making the seat-memory-to-key programming much simpler, though most other MY17 changes appear to be dependent on which options you chose.

Absolutely loved my Megane - it was my second and only minor niggle was one of the roof bars leaked.

Never saw my order form... I don't think!

Apparently a few people had problems getting the seat programmes set - I can't get mine to work.

Not really an issue as Hubby is not permitted to drive my cars... he drives a big white van, doesn't respect stopping distances and has a heavy right foot!

After the Megane was serviced the fuel economy mysteriously dropped by 25% too! Something I hope won't happen with the Skoda!

OK - Never noticed with the mirror - I do know mine is a 'dimming' one and it doesn't mention those at all in the revised brochure (as far as I could see) I imagine it's a 16 then - thanks :-)

Think I'll see if the dealer can show my how to set the seats when I pick it up - hopefully everything will be okay.

My OH will be mostly driving the Superb as it's our main family car and it will take a hammering from kids/dogs so getting rubber mats, tunnel protector, boot liner etc. sorted so it's at least got a chance of staying clean!

Dealer couldn't get it to work on collection either - but being 1st Sept I think he was pushed for time!

It will make a fab family car - we just have the 3 dogs who fit comfortably in the boot... I could probably fit in another if I tried! ;-)

It's almost a waste for me having the space in the back as I rarely have passengers... my biggest phobia is external damage - I've not parked in a public car park in years... but my fear of damage to my paintwork has really restricted where I go - I'm trying to man up and convince myself it's just a car - so I can get some decent use out of it... Though Airport parking may still be a No No! It started when I got a new Vectra Estate - it had 37 miles on the clock when I parked it at work and some **se walked down the side of it from tip to tail, dragging their laptop bag... and thus buckle leaving a deep scratch in the paintwork the full length of the car!

I don't know if the scratch insurance is worth having, as in my experience, insurers will try their hardest to get out of paying up!

I'm getting it for the space - we have 2 huge Labradoodles who whilst being lovely took up the whole boot in the Megane and really trashed it (hence getting a Hatchbag).

I was lucky to have a 3 day test drive in the Superb earlier in the year and was massively impressed by it especially the rear seat and boot space (absolutely ridiculous!). My OH tends to use the car as a house extension so the bigger the better.

I know what you mean about external damage - I'd only had my Megane for 4 days and it got smacked in a car park and had a few other scrapes over the years (some self-inflicted!).

Luckily for me it was a company car so didn't have to pay but the Superb is the first car I've owned for 12 years so we'll be a lot more careful now (well I will be!).

And hopefully so will the rest of the family! The dogs will have loads of space!

OK - so just went home to comfort break the dogs - and the mirror is just glass - no plastic surround... So may be a 17
