Skoda CS...

Featured Replies

I have managed to get some Service info from Skoda CS today, but there saying

"Unfortunately, we cannot provided the records of any warranty or any work that has been carried out on the vehicle as this is
for internal use only"

Is that right?

I don't know what dealer any work was done at so im kinda stuck now...or am I?

No it is not. That is a lie.

Customer Safety is important, Data Protection is not.

They can hide the previous owners / keepers names / addresses.

They need to allow an owner to know what parts are fitted to their vehicle, original or replaced.

So just ask them again and get a Senior Customer Services Manager to call you,

tell them they have a duty of care and Corporate Responsible.  Take their name and say you will hold them responsible for anything untoward in the future.

So Warranty Work Sheets & Parts lists and dates are all available to you and anyone you sell the vehicle to,

or have doing work on it.

You want to know what Breather Pipes / Valves are fitted, Oil Spray Jets or any other updated parts.

Replacement Engine, Letter to confirm for the DVLA / DVSA (VOSA) if required etc etc

Thanks mate

I knew that wasn't true, as I used to work for a Main dealer, and I was nearly sure they can supply it.

Ill keep you posted!

When I wanted information on my car they were very helpful. Only thing they couldn't give me was invoices because of data protection but told me all the work that was done, the mileage and the date.

Odd because other members get the part numbers and prices, even the labour charge when they ask Skoda UK Customer Services, or they have done in the past.

They can keep the Labour Charges private if they want, but not the parts used.

They sell vehicles via outlets and then have a Warranty to Underwrite, the vehicles are no longer theirs.

Odd. Well I've requested a call back from the CS senior manager.

See where it goes now.

I called them before I bought my car mate and they provided all info on the warranty work which was done. They were quite helpful.

Oh...great.

Ive had no reply this time...

Bit annoyed about I really.

If all is good with your car i would not stress.  You asked, they lie, you have come back if ever needed.

Just use good fluids, so 5w 40 FS to VW502 00, only use 99 ron petrol and 97 ron if needs must.

Good Filters & Spark plugs and you are sorted.

PS

& most important, if they will sell you a Skoda Warranty buy it if you have no Warranty on the car.

Or buy one when that expires. At least for the first year of ownership.

Skoda know the Service & Warranty history, but you do need to service to the Schedule / Guidelines & not Modify the from the factory engine management.

Or their updated engine management as they apply.

Its more curiosity that's getting the better of me.!

Luckily I use all of the above, and its having a service next week.

And im taking out a warranty soon too..

A service done by who, and what is getting done at the service?

If it is a Skoda Dealership doing the Service then they can do a Software Update at no extra cost.

But then their service is likely expensive enough in the first place.

Sadly if you have a Remap already on the car you might lose that.

Got no remap, and I usually take my cars to a local VAG specialist.(Ricci Concept Hull)

As I wasn't sure what it had done on the last service, im getting the lot done.

There is no 'The Lot'.   Just charged lots for a Major Service. Then sometimes a bit more.

So if you want the spark plugs changed specify that. If you want the Brake Fluid changed specify that.

You can open the Air Filter box and see if needed, only £18 but if a new one is in not needed.

A Pollen Filter might as well be changed. £16 or so.

They will use VW 504 00 (5w 30 Long Life) probably unless you say you want 5W 40 FS (VW 502 00)

(Some will say they are not allowed to, but that is rubbish if it is getting Fixed Servicing, 5W 40 is best used.)

There doing:

Oil & Filter, Spark Plugs, Pollen Filter, Brake Fluid.

Air wont be changed as I have a VWR Polo Filter in the box.

5W40 as requested.

Does anything get changed on DSGs?

No. It either needed or could have the Service campaign work done, or some didn't need.

Right, so in theory CS should or could be able to tell me if that's been done too?!

No theory they must tell you. The DVSA allowed them for it not to be a recall if they told registered keepers with DQ200 DSG. I will link the RECALL ACTIONS VIN checker, again later, but it is already in threads I think you have posted in.

  • Author

Ah yeah I remember the thread now.

Brought nothing up from what I remember..

Just gone to double check, the only recall link I can find on Skoda Uk website is for the emission's?

Thanks mate

"No relevant recall campaigns have been launched by ŠKODA for the entered VIN TMB....."

So today I get this.

I've been to my local dealer which wasn't the supplying dealer btw. They said get in touch with Skoda CS as the dealer can't tell me (as such) what's been done.....

Dear Mr Johnson

I am writing to you in response to your request to escalate your query regarding the warranty work repair history of your

current vehicle.

However, as previously advised by Daniel, Customer Relations Advisor, we are unable to provide you with the requested

information. I would therefore recommend that you contact your local Retailer, to see if they are able to assist you in

acquiring the information you require.

I appreciate that this is not the answer you were hoping for, but hope that, with the assistance of our Retailer Network, you

will find the information you are looking for.

Thank you for contacting ŠKODA UK.

Kind regards

Nathan Bailor

This Customer Relations Manager sounds like he supports Daniel's word the same as one supported Simon when he just brushed off customers.

Not like when it was Tom Chadwick, John Goode, Dan and the others that got to know there job and that the internet could catch them out.

At least you have a name for someone that is refusing to provide the information you are entitled to.

If you want the Information just direct your request to the Skoda Brand Director, he knows that you have the right to the information on the Warranty Work that Skoda UK paid for being done.

PM sent, I'll just get the information for you :D
