Insurance and future ideas on hold, just blogging a bit here

Featured Replies

As I pay out quite a lot on insurance more to do with how many vehicles I own, I like to keep it low as possible

Quote for o3 insurance comes up, via compare thing and lowest is NU / QMH fair enough £250 ! That will do nicely.

However then used that to entertained the idea to call Flux who I have for Fabia 1 already and quoted what I'd had already.

( to be honest with only modest mods at the moment) but other insurances can be a bit hit and miss with modifications even as basic as sportier suspension (e.g. AXA won't insure).

Other changes are almost cosmetic only ( standard octy wheels, front splitter, golf seats and I could practically do without them).

Admiral as an alternative are okay for this sort of stuff and very cheap, when you aren't really seriously modifying but have a concerning policy in some areas so I won't use them again.

Flux were more expensive for the Fabia 1 hence but it was about £150 extra with the modifications, cheapest I could have had on my Fabia 1 is about £200 but I just hate the standard ride height which was crap as standard, and struggle with any kind of middle ground which would mean I could have standard insurance but more decent look. (There isn't a standard part for better looking ride height presumably in that regard so I just took that as necessary). But I have acquired some standard springs again and seriously thinking of putting that back to standard for next year renewal as I'm running the Fabia into the ground. Sorry for going OT in regard to the forum a bit.

Quote is £400 from Flux for O3 and thats just the standard car, without the stage 1 yet. £150 more.

So I wonder if wanting stage 1 is just power for powers sake and that insurance is a pain even before you given them license by looking to be non standard.

Thinking about it I've not had any situation yet where I have gone, you know what this car just doesn't have enough power ( so its kind of power greed perhaps!).

Maybe if in far future I'm sitting on a santa pod speedway or something I'd probably be yearning for every inch of power I can get. But right now, I just don't

Certainly whilst I still have the Fabia 1 also still, I'm not going to rush into doubling the cost of my insurance.

To be honest I wasn't going to rush into it anyway as I'm still warranty so that would be at least 6 mths insurance paying for something I don't need. Maybe later then ! I wonder who else has probed into this, maybe has similar conclusion.

Think yourself lucky you don't live in my postcode..... £250 a year for a standard car! For standard mine is at least double that.

Although what you said about AF mine is the same with my current mods, remap would probably increase by 20%

Thanks, to be fair that is one of the most heavily discounted policies, but you know what these comparison sites are like, offers one cheapest and then the rest climb in price so to be fair there seem to be also plenty in that price range too.

Its was I hate about modifications so balanced with even going the other direction. I value being able to shop about for policies and it just seems to make that far more difficult. So no rush, standard map for now !

Sadly Ant the colour of the socks they are wearing influences the price more than the car/customer. I've had quotes with the same company from 600 to 2500......it's such a hit and miss industry no wonder no one likes insurance companies!
