7 digit postcode search error...

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Sorry if this seems a stupid question...but....

Just taken delivery of a new SE Tech estate. Loving the car, but not loving the sat Nav! When I try to search destination by postcode it will not recognise a 7 (UK standard) postcode. Am I being really stupid?? Cheers.

Odd, mine certainly does.

Are you clicking on 'city' first, then postcode? Is it letting you put six digits in? Have you tried it with multiple different postcodes just to make sure it's not one particular code it's stuck on? Hard to tell where it's going wrong without some more info :) without being patronising, have you checked the manual? Is the software level current?

Edit: Ignore me, I forgot you have Amundsen rather than Columbus. They may well operate the same, but you're best off disregarding anything I say :)

Thanks! You're right....it is an Amundsen unit. On a brand new car I would expect a postcode search to work! Have just tried a handful of postcodes....not one worked. I can type in a postcode and it seems to work up until the 5th digit.... i.e MK45 3. Anything after this throws up an error. I can search by map but that completely defeats the point of putting in a postcode.

Seriously unimpressed. Time for a call to the dealer. On a car less than a week old I shouldn't be updating my own sat Nav system!!

Are you putting the space in the postcode?

Certainly am trundle. If I don't then it doesn't,t work on any digit combination

I never put a space in...

The space isn't necessary to distinguish UK postcodes - the digit before the last two letters is always present and always 1-9 so it doesn't matter what comes before, the nav unit knows which is which.

Is it like this?

Update. Very strange but....postcode search works perfectly fine on voice search!! Recognises it instantly.

The amundsen in my octavia needs the space.

How odd. Good old VAG group consistency :)

All sorted. Thanks for the video link.....really helped. Why the postcode entry is hidden here is anyone's guess!! I'm sure I'm not the first (nor the last) to have this issue. Really appreciate the help. Cheers.

Most people would say "read the flippin' manual" but it doesn't say in there how to put a postcode in. I only found how to do it after looking at youtube :|

Software is based on the european 5-digit postcode
