this warning light came on yesterday and i havn't a clue what's wrong as the car is driving normally, the only thing i noticed was on monday morning when i started the engine it hesitated for a moment then was fine, it's done this twice in 14 months now.

in the manual it says something about electical diagnostic and in "limp home" mode but everything is normal! my car is an octy vrs

the light indicates a list of problems some very minor some very major... as the car 'appears' to running ok id say it was a minor problem maybe a sensor on the blink....however the only way to realy be sure is plug a computer into the car with vag com... a dealer will charge around £30 for this or someone here might be able to help....also the AA, RAC etc can be of some help if your a member...

You will know if it is in limp mode as the car will be significantly down on power.

How old is the car? If it is an early (pre 02/52 reg) Octavia it could be a coil pack on it's way out. I had this a couple of days ago but the only way to be sure is a diagnostic check.

it's 2001 y plate, only done 40k though....

it's not down on power for sure!

Mine wasnt down on power yet the engine light was on as there was a misfire in 2 cylinders.
