Fuel Filter

Featured Replies

Hi,

I ordered a fuel filter from Amazon - together with oil filter . I'v done the oil change - from the top with a pump - and filter but when I took the fuel filter out it is a different size.  The length and the hole in the top is to big. Amazon said I can send it back and will look into why the website came up with, " This fit's your car."

It's very black so want to get it changed tomorrow. Will this one from Halfords fit ?

Thanks for the help.

What is printed on the filter housing?

It's just black. No label. Is there something stamped into it ?

It should have the manufacturer and part number on it. If you take out the headlight you may get a better view.

This is the sticker you are looking for...

Eurocarparts are very good, great prices (always a discount code going around) and fast delivery.

I've found the parts-to-car matching very reliable too.

Thanks, I'v found Skoda main dealer so I'll call them in the morning. I don't want to take off anymore parts because I'm not all that clued up..

I'v never done anything like this before and, after much and ongoing getting wrong parts, finding correct socket and so on, found changing the oil and filter today a piece of P...

And I know it's done.

Thanks.

OK got the picture, thanks for that and I'll try and find it in the morning.

OK thanks. I'll try and see if I can get a small mirror behind it in the morning. And shin a small touch in there.

Other then that I could always just unscrew it again, pull the filter back out and measure it.

I'v found the actual changing of the filters and oil very straight forward.

Thanks for the help.

Just to add. The picture of the housing is like mine.

I'v tried to upload some photos of the filter's and process I used to change oil, filter and fuel filter but can't see where to add photo's.

All has gone well anyway. I put a tin of Liqui Moly in the fuel filter instead of diesel, fitted the new rubber ring and closed it.

Half filled the tank with ultimate diesel at BP - don't know if that is any better - and a diesel cleaner, Wynns in the half tank then took it up the M1. As suggested on here I put my foot down but kept it in 4th to " Blow the cobwebs out"

Had a coffee in service and coming back did the same again. This evening I have been out again in it and have defiantly noticed the difference. It's soother, quieter and pulls much sharper.

This has been a learning curve for me and now I have the equipment to service myself, I will in future more often.

Thanks for all the help.

post-142440-0-72403300-1476128640_thumb.jpgHi all,

This post is over though I wanted to share the photo of my now mileage. Brilliant. This was on a 160 mile run after I'd changed oil &filter, New fuel filter and liquid cleaned the injections by both, filling up the new fuel filter with liqui moly and a wynns cleaner in the tank.

I had blasted it before, about a week ago once I'd serviced. But now 65 mpg while doing 70 ish in cruse control - for most of the time - M & A/B roads, is great.

Thanks again. :nerd:

After searching re DIY CR fuel filter changing, I bit the bullet and done it.

Pure simples!

I simply ran some litres of diesel into a clean 5l jar when fuelling up at the pump(to top off the filter housing)

Ensured engine was warm.

Unscrewed cover.

Changed filter.

Topped up.

Resecured top cover.

Crossed fingers!

Turned the key, with some trepidition, and hey presto, started absolutly first kick.

My first service, the previous 5 years worth being "freebies"  courtsey of Skoda.
