Indeed some awesome machinery, but - todays rally cars are just as fast (if not faster) with all the regulations and stuff!!

Just imagine what the 'real men' would be driving today if they'd never been banned!!

Too fast to race is sold by Halfords and is very informative all the way through. It has great shots of Walte Rohl tap dancing the pedals through the forests ! Amazing stuff. It covers the whole era to the death of Henri Toivenen which just about ended the most influential era of this fantastic sport.

I've got a VHS tape I've had for years: "The Greatest Years of Rallying" - 90 minutes apparently but it's been so long since I've watched it, I can't remember whether it's any good.

You get some great footage on the Audi channel on sky digital sometimes, worth leaving it on if you aren't watching anything and just going about your business round the house.

Shame they spoil it with loads of Z-list celebs crawling up Audi's *rse about how wonderfull and what a life changing experience owning an Audi is, obviously in the hopes of getting a bit of discount on the next one!!
