I need help with my Skoda Laura (octavia II)

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This is my first thread. I genuinely respect all the members of this community and I need your help.

I'm from India and have Skoda Laura (Octavia 2)2006 model 1.9 TD Manual, L&K. The car is in perfect condition.

But since I bought this car a howling, irritating noise coming from the rear passenger side pillar (Pillar C I think) when I drive it above 80 km/h and continued after that.

I’ve done all the possible solutions like checking of all the rubber beadings, applied masking tapes on both windows ends, rear wind screen, rear tail light and even on sunroof but no difference.

In addition to it I inspected it from bottom too by lifting the car at garage and check each and every rubber or seal, all is perfect when I compared it with other laura.

It is very irritating and seems like there is a hole and air is coming in the pillar.

Please help me with this.

Have you checked the rear shock absorbers? Mine Laura had noise when I drove it above 60 kmph or on a bumpy road. I got it checked and the garage specialist oiled/greased the rear shock absorber.

Thanks for the reply Rajeev sir. The shocker is perfect. Moreover the noise is in the pillar and even it is coming on smooth roads but above 80km/h

To try confirming it is air, try opening windows individually by small amounts to alter any aerodynamic pressure as you drive.

It could be the internal air exhaust vent which is whistling, this could be tested by various settings of the ventilation fan with all doors/windows closed.

Something similar in this thread:

As you are in a hot country I would push all the rubber seals back onto the metal to make sure they are sealed to the frames and also look carefully for perished rubber.

Thanks to you too dear sir PikPilot

I've already checked all the seals and rubbers thoroughly. Even I tried by applying masking tapes to all the joints to passanger sides doors, rear wind screen and even sunroof too earlier but no results
