De-badged my 2 week old vRS and gave her a polish.

Featured Replies

Thought I'd tidy up the rear of my new vRS by de-badging. A bit of fishing line, some warm water poured over the badges, then some tar and bug remover left to soak on the sticky residue left over, really did the trick! I had to put a couple of plasters on my fingers where I looped the fishing line around them to stop it digging in but after 2 hours from start to finish I think it looks pretty good! I'm loving the fact I went for the red, I like the blue and white vRS's but there are lots of them around, I've only seen one other gen 3 red but that was an estate. I've also got the Black Plus Pack which makes her stand out a little more. It's the first time owning a car I've had people come up to me at petrol stations and say they love the shape and colour  :D

I've attached some before, during and after photos of the de-badging. It's a cheap way of making the car a little neater at the back, it's also easier to clean  ;)

What are people thoughts on de-badging ? (I have kept them in case I want to stick them back on if and when I sell her!)

Cheers mate, I keep wanting to clean it every other day! I love the double take looks it gets as well....

Looks miles better without badges :)

I like the Badgeless look but the VRS needs to come off as well

A Hollywood looks better than a Brazilian    ;)

Nice work - the car looks very nice and glossy!

Top Job!

Cheers guys, I was toying with the idea of removing the vRS badge but I quite like it. I payed about in Photoshop, removing it, moving it to where the OCTAVIA used to be, but I wasn't keen on either option so left it where it was :)

Nice work looks brilliant! What products did you use?

Huge fan of the MK3 vRS - like you say, nice to see a red one for a change.

Looks better in red as that awful full length rear reflector blends in :peek: super gloss ,and how come its a 16 plate, 66 came out 5 and a half weeks ago ? or you mean you bought it 2 weeks ago ? :nerd:

I bought it two weeks ago :) It was an ex demo car with 5k on the clock :) I used Auto Glym Products for the cleaning.  Their Body Work Shampoo (which smells amazing!!), Auto Glym Aqua Wax after its been washed and while it's still wet (was a bit skeptical but it worked a treat!). 2 sprays per panel then polish it in with one cloth, wring it out then keep on going till you've dried the whole car,  then some Auto Glym Extra Gloss Protection. This red comes up like a mirror and I'm getting addicted to cleaning her!

Looks awesome! Colour really suits it.

As for Aqua Wax, it's a very underrated product! I have a few bottles locked away. It's a great drying aid and has some fairly decent protection. Smells good too! Nice to see it being mentioned and used.

Great for a quick winter top up to as it's quick and easy to use!

Do like these new Octavia vRS but I'd hate to see my Fabia go!

I'm looking forward to a drive up to the Lake District later on this month to meet my best mate who's just moved up there. Last time I went was in a Ford Transit helping with the move!! There are some nice fast winding roads up there so looking forward to it! It also means I get to clean her when I get home ...ha ha.....
