Turbo-ing an SDI?

Featured Replies

How hard is fitting a turbo into a 1.9SDI - is it even possible? There doesn't look to be much spare room in my engine bay.

Purely out of interest!

Cheers!

Considering the TDI is readily available, it's a complete waste of time to even attempt it.

The SDI has more in common with the previous non-PD version of the 1.9 TDI  engine though for all I know the block/cylinder head might be similar. The ECU is different, you would need a MAF and MAP and gearbox would also need changing with the associated drive shafts. Clearly not an attractive proposition.

It was purely a question of interest after a mate and I were joking about doing it; pretty sure my car would fall apart if it was any more powerful. I'm aiming to upgrade next year once I've got a bit of cash saved, much as I'd love to now.

Fair enough, just trying to flog my motor :)
