DSG7 2nd gear shudder

Featured Replies

So I know this is a common fault and mines gotten pretty bad lately but 95% of my cars time is spent in 7th on the motorway.

Car is going to the dealer soon and I'm having the gearbox looked at under warranty. This is all well and good but what should I do long term?

It's a 2011 Superb 1.8TSI. When I bought it in April - it had 15500 on the clock. Today it has 24K and my annual mileage is now looking to be 24-26K a year due to a change of job. The warranty will run out in April and I'm happy to keep on owning the car but what's the likelihood of it needing further clutch packs long term? If this is going to become a recurring problem then had I better think about replacement of the car? Though I suppose any work done under warranty - my understanding is that the replacement part is covered by a further two years warranty. Is that correct?

My other concern is the good old chain tensioner but I am considering getting the part replaced by an independent garage in Feb/Mar so it won't die after the warranty is finished.

Was your car one that was part of the Service Campaign to have the DSG changed from synthetic oil to mineral and the DSG software update and has it been done?

Yes replacement parts from the VW Group have a 2 year warranty.

You could buy a 'Skoda Warranty' for another 12 months on All Components (some Exclusions.)

That will give some peace of mind.
