Spooky KESSY

Featured Replies

Has this happened to anyone? Walked around the front of the car key in pocket and the car unlocked without touching any part of the car. A little spooky.

I thought that was the whole point of KESSY?

Nope you still need to push a button (which is easy done with the keys in your pocket1) or touch the inside of the front door handles.

Was it raining? Mine unlocks and locks itself if I clean the car with the key in my pocket, have to go hide them once it's unlocked.

ahhhh I thought it was proximity based and no button pressing required.

Mine does this too, but it’s only when I pass the wash mitt over a front door handle, like you I now put the keys back inside the house whilst washing the car to prevent it constantly locking / unlocking itself.

They are not really buttons as such on the door handles more of a sensor.

On the new fobs the buttons are very flush and much easier to press by accident compared with the ‘traditional’ VAG keys.

The car was wet Custardmonkey but I didn't touch the car.

And if you have the virtual boot pedal make sure you don't have the key in your pocket either!!  It frightened the wotsits out of me when it suddenly opened as I was washing the rear of the car   There has been chatter about this in the early days of the S3 on here. Quite a few folks reporting random unlocking/locking when keys in trouser pockets.

And there was me thinking it was down to my magnetic personality.........
