Jacking Points Skoda Superb Mk1

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am looking to do a service on my Mk1 Superb.

I believe due to the weight of the car it needs to be supported on axle stands rather than on a trolley jack?

Does anyone know where the java king points are and if the axle stands need any cushioning before they can be used? They have a u shaped area where they connect to the car but I imagine this will need to be flat? Is there an adapter that can be purchased for this flattening out?

Thanks,

Ben

Why jack it unless you're doing the auto fluid?

Get a Pela pump and take the oil out through the dipstick.  190,000 miles as still motoring...  Original turbo, too.

Hi Jimbof,

Is a Pela Pump any good? I've heard its always better to drain the oil from the sump as the pumps don't remove all the old oil?

Ben

Well, I am on 194K now, Pela pump oil changes for last 110K miles, car still on original turbo and camshaft (1.9PD 130 AVF).  I use 507.00 Total Quartz Ineo as it is very well priced in 1L bottles, and makes oil changes super-easy.  (3 full bottles + 1/2 bottle = perfect fill with a little bit of top-up).

Pela seems to do a good job.  Draining via sump plug also doesn't drain all the oil (via sump plug the oil in the oil cooler is left behind).

Theoretically the very best oil change would be drain via sump plug then use a Pela to take old oil out of the oil cooler.  Both methods are permitted per the factory manuals for the car.

Pela cannot be used on some vehicles with a baffle in the sump - you definitely won't get all the oil out of them.  I recall reading this applies to some petrol Audi engines, for example.

Thanks JImbof, much appreciated.

I have a 1.9 PD AWX 130 bhp engine, does anyone know if that contains an oil baffle in the sump? Its a 55 plate.

Thanks,

Ben

No same as the AVF, you can suck around 3.5ltrs out, don't forget to suck it out the cooler, takes a bit of plunging down the dipstick and moving around but it gets 99% of it out.
