Droplinks and bushes

Featured Replies

Hi all,

This new suspension lark is becoming expensive! ha.

B12s are en route and I already have new mounts/bearings, nuts/bolts, and powerflex centre mount insert (yellow). I need to get new drop links and I've thought about doing bushes also.

Can anyone give me a link to the lemforder front drop links please? Unless I'm being stupid, I can only really see the rear ones? GSF have them, but they're about £35 each.

EDIT: GSF are 100% lemforder and I can get 30% off with it being my first purchase with them.

Secondly, whilst it's all apart, should I be looking to proactively replace any bushes? Or should I just leave it my VAG indy's discretion?

Thanks!

Bump. Apart from the RARB bushes that I know need doing, are there any others that I'd benefit from by replacing with powerflex or superpro?

Oh sweet. I already have a 30% off code ready to use, but 40% is even better.

I'm not after amazing handling so OEM bushes are probably what I'll go for. This suspension upgrade (plus a rear hub and sensor) have already set me back way more than I wanted to pay, so replacing all the bushes with powerflex/superPro etc would be very expensive :(

What have you bought so far then? Seems you are going for everything?

I'd say the essentials are renewing the top mounts when doing shocks and springs. The rest can be inspected and replaced as necessary?

So far I've the following:

Top mounts/bearings

B12 Kit

All required nuts/bolts

Centre mount insert

Drop links (ordering today/tomorrow)

I know I need RARB bushes, but I'm unsure what size I need. I think it's 21.7mm; is that right?

Do you have updated ARB? Or do you intend on doing it in future? I think that mod goes hand in hand with the B12!

What's the situation with bump stops too? Do you just use the standard ones? Seems quite confusing seeing what other people post about them!

I'm keeping the standard RARB, at least for now anyway. Bumpstops, well I never even thought about them in honesty. I guess if they say they need replacing I'll get them ordered.

With the B12...

Front doesn't need bumpstops as they are integral to the Damper, rear, get the bumpstops for the VRS, as they are shorter than the standard ones.

Don't cut them, they fall off eventually. About £8 each IIRC, so not expensive.

While you're doing it replace the both sets of bushes in the front wishbones (Look at superpro, but if you're not feeling flush get new ones from a dealer and get the solid bushes from a leon cupra for the rear bushes)

They make a huge difference if the old ones are worn, (Which they likely will be) and are not expensive (Unless you go aftermarket)

I don't want anything too firm though as I don't want the ride to be really uncomfortable.

Do I definitely need new bumpstops?
