Octavia 1.6 tdi very high mileage

Featured Replies

Hi. My Octy almost get 250k on the clock now. Is it rare to see this sort of mileage on small engine as 1.6?

Since I got it new only EGR and clutch was replaced, whats happen next, how the engines die???? :~)

Wow! My seat was worn on bottom and bolster so I bought VRS leather interior. This is my first long term car, I don't love it but it does NOT bother me at all. I had VRS which I loved but sold cos can't afford to keep 3 vehicles.

Thanks for respond

So you had the EGR replaced once and it has been fine since ? This is a well known issue on these and quite pricey to replace right ?

Did you convert to single mass flywheel, is it an option on these?

What kind of driving did you do in it. Short or long distance ?

Restores my faith in these engines stories like this. Otherwise the 1.9 is the best of the old bunch.

New EGR cost me 550. Dual flywheel on all FL model. Short distanse but with little agression to keep DPF clean.

Engine got DTUK tuning box for more power and thats it. 1.9 better but noisie

I heard EGR can cost £1000 parts maybe labour. Was yours supplied and fitted for that?

How many flywheels/clutches ?

Anything else console bushes etc?

Sounds like it will keep going. ????

EGR 300 and 250 labor. Egr online, labor vw specialist. Dealer price around 1k, yes.one clutch/flywheel at 150k. Cambelt 170k miles.

Two front shocks, brake disks, drop links but I don't caunt those parts as major repair

Good to know that it's a lot cheaper to get an EGR than £1k people were being quoted. At what mileage did the EGR go?

What registration/year car do you have?

Is the Cambelt interval really only due at 170k or also at 100k/5 years ?

That's some cheap motoring even with wear and tear items ????

Do you change oil and filter every 10k fixed or variable 20k servicing ?

60 reg. Changed cambelt at 170k was like new and no probs with water pump at all.

New Conty cambelt can be replaced at this mileage but people live with past knowlege about cambelt interval. Oil change always in time of 9800k.

Sorry, check my record, cambelt replced at 140.000. Sorry again

Hi I’ve got a 1.6 CR TDi as well, just coming up for 120k miles.

How much was it it to replace your clutch and DMF?

I’ve not had to fix anything on the car yet except the fuel filler cap mechanism and replace the stop/start battery... it’s had 11 oil changes and several fuel/air filter changes too.
