What Is....

Featured Replies

I have just been reading in the FAQ about fitting the nearside fog lamp, just one question

What on earth is a "junior power timer terminal (female)"

So many questions............so little time

:drive:

It's the name of the individual electrical contacts inside the socket, ie the part the male connector plugs into. The socket you need to connect a wire to is empty (ie no contact), hence it helps to have the right connector to fit into that hole. If you can obtain the right terminal from an auto electrical shop or repairer, it makes wiring up a second fog lamp a doddle.

A second fog lamp? Isn't one set enough?

Or is this for Octy vRS owners who don't have separate foggies?

A second REAR fog lamp (ie the nearside one), chaps. For FAQ's sake read the FAQs then engage brains before pressing Submit Reply!

This is what the Junior Power Timer Terminal (female) looks like. The one on the left has had the wire cut off but does show how the wire is crimped in place. (The coin is 17mm in diameter and helps some idea of how small the terminals are).

If you have trouble locating one of the terminals go to your dealer and probably they'll have an old connector lying around for you to butcher.......that's what I did.;)

When you read the FAQ make sure you use the relevant instructions for the estate as the bulbs are in a different order to the h/b and you will also have to cut out the hole for the bulb in the lense.

Took no longer than 15-20 minutes for the h/b but a lot longer for the estate.
