Warning light on,... Any ideas?

Featured Replies

Last night had footwell lights and emergency brake lights switched on with vcds, battery ran low and had to charge it for a few hours to get it to turn over. Just driven it and straight from the off the orange exhaust management (one that looks like an engine block) light is permanently on. :( without plugging back in as it's not my vcds, any ideas what might be going on??

Seems to be driving normally.

Just remembered, drove it around the block to clear the steering wheel and abs lights about 1am and wasn't on then. Coincidence it's just come on??

If it stays on is it that I shouldn't be driving it now?! :(

Random! Went out again and parked up. Got back in (still on!) and stalled pulling away... and it went off!! :D Gonna keep an eye on it but anyone got any thoughts as to why a stall might clear it??

Thanks Mike, I may well stick it on overnight next weekend in the spare bay of the fire station so there's no chance of the anything getting nicked or getting wet; should cheer the old girl up. To be honest it's still on it's original battery so I'm probably taking the p*ss with it still being in there!! :notme:

Rememer having my MkII Golf, and even with it being a G60 so having a supercharger taking up more space than usual, it still had enough room to put the charger in and shut the bonnet so it was still waterproof during overnight charging! :)

Seems strange that the light didn't come on in the few minutes after I'd charged it and given it a run last night, only this morning, but as you say, when I get it plugged in at some point it might show what was going on and if there's something (hopefully minor) on the way out. Aware from here that various probes seem to be a weak point on the exhaust on octys so if it's summat physical like that, that judder from the stall might have given it a shake back to life, who knows?!

Check your footwell lights arent on permanently when locked.

Thanks, no they're working perfectly. Drained it cos we were sitting doing vcds at night with lights on and ignition on. Bit daft, should have switched the auto lights off, but you forget the about draining... hindsight and all that. :)

original battery? - that's going well. Had to replace mine this year, but perhaps I use my heated seat more :)

Yup, only ever had the one and although It's never let me down I know it's on borrowed time! :D

Gotta be cold for me to use the heated seats (unless I turn it on in summer when a passenger is in it so they think they've wet themselves! :D),  but the missus definitely gets her money's worth out of them!! :)
