Grille on dash

Featured Replies

Hi.   On the top of my dashboard, at the centre , just under the windscreen, there is a grille. I assume it's a loudspeaker (though I can't easily hear sound from it). I need to be sure because I might sometimes block it .

Thanks all

I think it's only part of the Canton upgrade

Octavias have 8 speakers unless you have Canton upgrade.

2 in each door.

As above, no speaker in there in lesser models.

Is it just decorative then ?

Mine is the Amundsen

Check the tweeter in the drivers door, it'll say Canton on it if you have the upgrade

And there'll be a big box in the boot?

Doesn't he mean the grille about five inches across in the centre of the dash? Windscreen ventilation is through the narrow full-width slit.

Yes quite, I don't have canton, so the grille is purely decorative ?

It's just a generic platform. Saves designing a different dash for non upgraded cars

Unless, there is the cabine temperature sensor under the mesh/grille.

No that's on the base of the rear view mirror.

The grille on the dash is just a grille, unless you have canton where its an extra speaker.
