APR Stage 1 ECU and TCU upgrade

Featured Replies

Hello All,

I have recently bought a 2016 Octavia RS Wagon DSG 2.0L TSI. I am looking to get the APR ECU and TCU upgrade done, at the same time. Any thoughts or suggestions? I will eventually get the intake, down pipe and stage 2 done but want to start here. Is the TCU worth it? I've read a lot  blogs on here but can't find anyone thats commented on having both. Would love to hear peoples thoughts.

Thanks!

Are you not bothered about your warranty...anything engine related you can pretty much say goodbye to being able to claim!

Most tuners offer around 290-300 bhp for a stage 1 tune, so the difference will be quite noticeable!

It is my understanding that it can be "de-programmed" and that it's not traceable by the dealership. Is this correct?

Absolutely not I'm afraid...and anyone who is telling you different is telling you lies.

Any modification to the parameters of the vehicle ECU via the OBD port will trigger what is known as a TD1 flag - as soon as the dealer plugs in any diagnostic equipment it will automatically flag that the ECU has been altered, even if it is returned to standard tune.

Unfortunately manufacturers are now getting very smart to hinder those of us chasing those few extra horses!

Thanks for the information. I appreciate your honesty.

After much consideration......

I've booked the car in for the stage 1 ECU and TCU upgrade. I'll let you know how I go.

I didn't think the DSG software upgrade was available for the 2016 model yet?

I'm on stage 1 and the revo news I receive shows it's coming, or at least I thought.......
