Which service?

Featured Replies

Guys, which service do I need?

Will an inspection cover an oil service?

Or do I get oil service and then an inspection in a few months?

The Car is leased and going back in February, so the least amount of servicing costs, the better!

Originally it was on anual servicing mode, but I reset it in January or February this year so I would get another 12 months out of it.

Car is 20 months old with 16k miles covered. I think it needs an oil change quite early?

Cheers

So I guess the £269 service?

Serviced properly, mmmm I'd rather take it to an independent where I know it will be haha!

If its leased, aren't servicing costs included?

So all you will pay for is the fluid (~5L of oil).

An oïl service at 18k miles (30k km) is normal on the "Extended Service Interval" so sounds about the right distance to me.

You've done well to get to 20 months and 16,000 miles.

You only need a minor service (oil and oil filter) at £149.

The dealer will tell you that you need the more expensive major service (as you are on variable or long life servicing) but this is a rip off as your car doesn't yet need the air, fuel and pollen filter changing.

Probably done well as I reset it at 12 months lol.

Ok will try for the £149 option.

Ok I be been quotedfor £197 oil change only with long life oil. Then the usual software updates, check over the car etc.

I think I'll wait until nearer the time.

No mention of it being £149?

This for me is why variable servicing should be left to fleet managers. There must be hundreds of private owners out there who's vehicles don't meet the manufacturers service specifications. Whether this will impact on any warranty claim is another question. Keep it simple. Every year/10K miles.

It was or is in fixed but The dealer said there's longlife oil in it from factory and to reset the clock.

Also the same dealer said today to leave it a month or two until it's nearer 2 years or 20k lol. So I agree on a warranty claim perspective, they could tell me to jog on.

#10 ....

Which is why I will try not to buy cars on long life cycles. I don't care what anybody says, if you intend to keep a car for a while fixed servicing has to be the preferred option.

It's booked in now. It's now flashed up oil change and inspection!

Costing £188. Price matched and undercut slightly with other dealer.
