Headlight bulb confusion

Featured Replies

I am looking to change headlight bulbs on my Fabia Vrs 62 plate but I am confused at how many bulbs there are to replace, I had a look and couldn't budge the bulb, so my question is are there 2 bulbs on each side or just one, I may seem stupid but I'm totally confused on this one.

Not sure on your car sorry.

On the vRS with 2 bulbs the Dipped one is found and even i can reach it, passenger side passed the battery. Outermost Bulb.

 First remove the rubber cover.

Twist to get it out.  Drivers side is easier.

Then Full Beam bulbs again remove the Rubber cover and its a twist again to get them out.

PITA but not that difficult once you sus what you are doing.

Are you saying that it could be four bulbs in total, I can only see one each side, there is a small blue coloured bulb that I can see thru the headlight.

OK.  So you will just have 1  bulb at each side.

Forget the blue bulbs, they are dummy bulbs, that do nothing.

So if there is one bulb you have a shutter system that gives Dipped, or Full Beam from 1 Bulb.  An H7 i think it is.

These are just in where Sidelight bulbs would be, but Skoda put them down using the DRL / Sidelight unit.

I did notice that the blue bulbs are wired but obviously not connected, the headlight bulb is tight to move, any tips.

Slightly push and turn the holder to release.  Once sussed you know how some do it dead easily.

Managed to get the bulb out ok but tight, only one filament so the beam must adjust in the headlight itself, cheers for the help.

Its a solenoid operated headlamp. Basically, the bulb is on all the time the headlights are on... then theres a solenoid which controls a shutter, which then lifts to make high beam. Lowers for dip beam.

as above.. its a H7. It only needs a single filament as it works as above.

H4's are twin filament and only found in the basic S model.

I'll put this in here to save starting a new topic...

I'm having trouble with the low beam bulb staying in the holder next to the battery (furthest to the left of the car). By this, I mean the bulb is properly connected to the bit that holds the wires, but won't stay inside the headlight fitting of the car.

Either there's a problem with the fitting, or because of the restricted room I can't get the insertion correct ( :D ). What ends up happening is the bulb works its way out of the hole and rolls around as the car hits bumps - the beam tends to point downward more than it should, except that when I hit a bump the beam "bounces". Either way, it's obviously not shining where it should.

I've had numerous goes at getting the bulb in place, but it eventually comes loose again, and maybe all of the attempts to screw it back in again is worsening the situation.

So, my question: does anyone have any ideas on a solution? Obviously I can't do something too permanent, as I will want to get it out to change the bulb at some stage. I was thinking something like a bit of electrical tape around the plastic part of the connector, to make it a little bigger and less likely to shift?

It should be a simple line it up, push it in and give it a twist. Just less than a quarter twist.

(since you are upside down i cant remember clock wise or anti clockwise.)

Have you bent something when you removed it, by just pulling out and not doing the twist.

Something might have got bent. It was VERY hard to remove in the first place.

They can be a little more tricky.

Try tweaking the pins out a little on the clip
