Recommended Posts

Yeah you could be right, im changing my plugs this weekend not sure whats in at the moment, but im puting denso iridiums in it.

I picked my miltek exhaust up on demon tweeks there a really good parts supplier.

£535 without fitting, but its gunna be deliverd to me and i can fit it myself anyway.

Yeah fair point. Whats the best brand thats recomended for the engine ?

Wow I thought I was impulsive!  I have sneaky suspicion you may have just bought this car?  Anyway hope it works out well (especially with the milltek)

For Oil follow offski comment above. Im goin for Tesco 5w-40 for top ups.

Petrol always super unleaded. I have been on Shell 99 but have recently switched to Tesco momentum. Couldn't really tell the difference tbh.

Will update regarding success of fixes in a month. Good Luck!

Haha yeah it was a tad impulsive, i was getting some new front and rear discs and pads on demon tweeks, and while i was there i had a look at exhausts and thought "why not" and and added it to the basket.

I might start using cheaper oil then since it doesnt make a difference if i use the dear shell stuff. Ive alway use shell super unleaded aswell.

Cheers bud.

Maybe give Tesco Momentum 99 a try if you are near enough a station.

Maybe the same or similar Detergent Package to Shell V-Power Nitro+, then again maybe not, so a bit better with an engine where Bore Wash can be an issue.

The Winter Formulation is now in filling stations or should be.

Both might well be 99 ron minimum but even if Tesco Momentum was £2.50 a tank more expensive than Shell V-Power Nitro+ i would still use it.

As it is it costs less and is at least worth a try IMO.

Hi Dan,

How is your car doing, had my Milltek fitted Denso Spark Plugs, weights removed and GFB dv+ fitted sounds really good,

Dyno run stock no mods was 173.9BHP and after custom tune it got 193.4BHP

Fitted the miltek exhaust on saturday sounds really good not too loud but definetly loud enough to tell the differnce , has a nice bassy grumble when idling and at low revs

pops loads when you give it some. Going to be fitting my forge blow off valve soon and its going garage for a diagnostics in january as it keeps missfiring and the engine waring light comes on when ever drive it hard the EPC and engine warning light come flashing on for 30 seconds then go off.

Please just give the Forge BOV a miss. They are useless.

If you have the Plugs & Coils now sorted, the Induction & the software with the latest running you need a diagnosis done.

There must be a sensor or some other issue,

& you want to be sure it is not a valve issue.

A biggie would be Water Pump / Supercharger Magnetic Clutch failure,

so do not put off finding why you get the EPC light illuminating,  best not boot it hard until you get a diagnosis and the issue resolved.

Hi Dan,

Hope you get the EPC light sorted did you change the coil pack ? It was coil pack 3 on mine 6 months ago, a good diagnostics should tell.

The milltek sounds reasonable In D : nice Low grumble, manual sounds amazing (when you want it too)

You would be better fitting a GFB dv+ than the forge. I got one off a forum member on here

Yeah i hope i get it sorted too its a right pain this missfiring. I havent changed the coil packs but im looking at getting the r8 coil pack set with the adapter there about 200 odd quid depending on what colour you ghe the adapter in but il definetly be getting them before i get it mappoed. But yeah it should be having a full diagnostics when it ake it to this garage hes supposed tro be one the best vag specialists around my area suposedly anyway we'll soon see haha. m

Yeah really impressed with the miltek thounice low grumble and good sound through manualy like you said. Ah i didnt know about the GFB is it any good , ive allready bought the forge one but ive heard good things about it and for 172 quid it cant be all that bad.

?

Who tells you these good things, like that a Forge BOV is any use with a 1.4 TSI / TFSI Twincharger , or do you mean the DV+?

they are good for a remapped car.

Can they not tell you why your car is misfiring or playing up?

  • 4 weeks later...

These cars run well even on 3 cylinders as long as not hard acceleration and no S mode, I did it for a month, coil pack 3 had gone spark plug 3 tip broke off, coaked in oil, this is what brought me to forum and the oil consumption saga...

Had car in garage at weekend, blow off valve fitted no issues with it so far and mechanic has said missfires are down to the coil packs three off them are knackered so ive ordered 4 bosch ones i thought id just raplace all 4 instead of 3.

I also bought carista OBD2 dongle off amazon so you can monitor fault codes using either carista app or torque pro. Slots into the ODB2 slot near fuse box - connect to android phone / tablet

Worth getting if you just had issues with miss fires etc...and made changes.

Are there any uprated coil packs, or does everybody go for bosch ones?

A few people have used these Audi ones http://www.tmg-performance.com/en/products/ignition/r8-335.html

Im still on OEM ones apart from coil pack 3 problem beginning of last year. Running stage 1 now with no issues so far.

Should any of the others packs go will likely replace with these 'Audi' ones
