Local dealer screwed up my aerial

Featured Replies

Yes, the technician drilled a hole on my car without discuss with me about the proper position, and it's way too much forward.

Consider there's no easy way to fix this, he drilled another hole and use the aerial and some glue to cover the first one. It's still not in the proper position though, and it's been bothering me since.

Haven't decided whether to fix it or just leave it like this.

All of the FL models here in China are equipped with the rear window aerial, and roof aerial is not an option at all. This is why the technician didn't get the position right, cuz he doesn't know where it should be. But at least he should've inform me before start drilling, which he hadn't.

The backup car was in use and I needed my car to go to work, so I chose to drill the other hole, which was at the closest position possible but still missed 4cm-5cm.

You're in China? That doesn't look good and I'd be disappointed but what outcome do you want. Really the hole needs plugging properly if it is under the sharkfin so long as it doesn't leak. To put right means welding in some metal and preping, finishing and spraying the roof. Annoying, and disapponting but maybe more trouble than it is worth to put fully right...

In fairness if it was any further backward it probably wouldnt have fitted flush with the roof line. There is a subtle curve on the roof and you probably would have had a gap under the aerial base.

Exactly as you said, it's way too much trouble to get it right, so I choose to live with this.

There's a soft rubber seal around the base of the aerial to prevent this.

It should be about 4-5cm further backward than my current position, judged by all sorts of pics I found online. Acctually the first hole they drilled is in the flat area of the roof, but it's not the "genuine" postion.
