I have viewed the site on and off since I brought my first Skoda, which I still have, in 2013, the site comes up a lot when googling for info so thought it was about time I joined as I'm totaly hooked on Skoda now. I have a 2011 Octavia estate L&K and its the best modern car I have owned. Just reached 50000 and only complaint so far cambelt and service this year said goodbye to a grand, and having owned and serviced Scimitars myself  for a number of year so this was a bit of a shock, welcome to modern motoring I hear you say. I assume I have a Mk 2 with the CR engine and was initially worried by the "won't last like the old 1.9" comments I've read. Hope I can contribute something but for a while think I will be learning more than contributing

Hi Peter, welcome along!  Once you look after them the CR engines should last as well.  There are plenty of examples around these days with mega mileage.

Thanks for the encouragement, I notice you are going from 170 to 150 wont you miss the extra power ?

Not really, the 150TDI is the natural replacement for the 170TDI IMO.   The 170bhp has 350nm of torque and the 150 will have 340nm however the 150 is a lighter car so overall it should be about the same.  In fact, the 150 will probably feel marginally quicker.  Top speeds and 0-60 etc are about the same with the 150 and 170.  Also, I've driven the 150 and 190 back to back and the 190 just isn't worth it as the power difference is not overly noticeable across most of the rev range.    With the saving on 150 over the 190 (€1,400) I got all the extras I wanted :)

Welcome to the site.

:peek: I went from a 200 CR+ 4x4 Superb to a 70hp  citigo I miss the power, but it's still capable. Mostly as it's a considerably lighter car.  There are few places now you can truly enjoy a powerful car, and most chassis combo's are more than capable on restricted roads. The thing I miss is the exposure to danger time and having to wait a lot longer for a chance to over take, although chance is more a calculation and knowledge of the next 10 miles of road in the citigo.

I did like the L&K Octavia's nice mix and balance of comfort and price.
