Does any one experence cold crunch ftom 1st to 2nd. I have asked the dealer a number of times and told every thing is ok. Now its getting cold the problem is more noticeable and is still just as annoying.

Has any one had this resolved or know the exact technical cause for this.

Mine can be the same, notchy moving between gears rather than crunchy, once warm the gear box is much better. I guess its something to do with the transmission oil.

Would change the gearboxoil to omega 690 and the correct grade. I have experienced the same thing on several audis. Gearboxoil was changed= smooth Gearchange when cold.

But the dealer probably wont do this in warranty time. Cant do anything wrong with this oiltype.

Manual or DSG?

And THIS TIME I checked the title before asking :)

I assumed it was a manual. :)

Hi kjetilros its a 6 speed manual, you have to drive the car for at least 40 minuits before it starts to feel ok, it needs to good and hot.

Whats the milage?

I really reccomend the oil I mentioned earlier.

The mileage is getting near 10k. Looks like good oil.

Thanks for all the responses

I've been contemplating booking in my manual petrol VRS for a check on the gearbox. It's definitely more notchy than my previous 1.4tsi, although I'm guessing the gearbox is not exactly the same. Occasionally it will refuse to go into first and needs to be moved into second then back to first before it will engage. I'm just loath to take it in as I'm convinced they will give me the same answer that you got. I've only done 3000 miles, but it has been the same since new (4 months).

Is the gear box a mq350?

I'm not sure - how do you find out?

Can't say i've noticed this on mine, only issue I seem to have is gettting a smooth clutch release from 1st to 2nd, always seems a bit juddery unless I conciously try to make the change slowly. Also goes into R instead of 1st a little to easily.

I've had some issues with my car, but more transmission noise related. It has a horrid grinding type sound at low speed - say when tickling along slowly in traffic. I have started to wonder if it may be a resonance from the exhaust. Interestingly, when I took the car in for inspection, the Citigo I borrowed had the same sound, as did an Octavia I took for a short run just to compare with mine.

Lack of soundproofing doesn't help matters either.
