What Skoda Infotainment system is this please ?

Featured Replies

I have the business edition spec and it's got Sat nav as standard fit. The head unit has2 slots for SD cards and one of these is used for the Sat nav.( software for Sat nav is on a SD card) voice control and DAB also there. Don't know what name of this unit is though.

Also got cruise control as standard.

Sorry Sat nav was "free "upgrade not standard.

Hi guys, any help appreciated.

Agreed a deal to trade in my 2011 Yeti for a 2016 (16) Skoda Yeti Outdoor 2.0 TDI CR SE Business.

I don't pick up this car for a couple of days but research leads me to believe the advertised 'infotainment' system is wrong !

Car is advertised with " Amundsen sat nav system with DAB radio, MP3 player, Aux-in, USB and SD Card "

This is a picture of the installed system. i-M3rjTF3.jpg

No NAV button ?

I have now spoken to my local Skoda dealer and after asking for the Reg No of the car he said 'no sat nav ' ( but didn't seem convinced ? )

I cannot find out what model is in this new car (see pic) I'm guessing 'Bolero' but it looks different to other Bolero's I see.

Can it be upgraded to sat-nav ? if not can it be replaced with a sat-nav model from Skoda/other manufacturers ?

Any ideas ?

Thanks

same model spec as mine although I added heated seats and windscreen and spare wheel

That's exactly the same as the Bolero fitted in my new Yeti Outdoor SE. The earlier Bolero looked very different.

I have never had a built-in Sat Nav, I prefer to use my Garmin Nuvi.

The car is certainly right for us apart from we set our hearts on sat nav & DAB. We find the Amundsen sat nav (no DAB) in our existing Yeti (to be traded in) so much more convenient than a 'stand alone' sat nav.

Replacement car is not from a Skoda dealer so they would have no knowledge of exchange units. I am trying to contact my local Skoda dealer to see if it is possible to replace the existing Bolero unit with a Amundsen + (sat nav & DAB)

My online research leads me to believe this may cost close to £1000.00 !  (Amundsen unit £775.00 )  I may go back to my local dealer and see if he will give me a reduction in the price of the car as it was wrongly described in the first place ?

However the 'small print' on the new vehicle states (who ever reads all this) does say " Please be aware that the specification on vehicles can sometimes differ " [/size]

It's more complicated than just switching the head unit. You also need to fit a new aerial and programme the whole thing including the steering wheel.

You can get a Pioneer (I think) approved retro fit Nav/DAB from a Skoda Dealer, but forget the thought of getting an Amundsen fitted.

If the car was advertised with the Nav and DAB, and you went in, viewed the car, and bought it without checking they may be able to argue the toss. If you have bought without viewing through distance buying regs and discoverd it's not as described they must refund you. Likewise, if you have specifically asked if it has Nav and DAB, and they have said it has, you should expect a refund. Also if it is being sold as an SE Business Edition, and it isn't, that isn't a spec difference, it's trying to sell it as a model that it isn't, which is illegal!

If Nav and DAB are important to you, I really would walk away. You will only end up with buyers remorse looking at that stick on Nav while listening to the cricket on medium wave!

Open the drivers door, the shiny plate on the door step should say "Business"

Well it doesn't but registration docus say business edition.

Just to tidy this up I did purchase the car with the fitted Bolero (no sat nav or DAB) The dealer had a tow-bar fitted for me free as an apology for the incorrectly described car. He also fitted my winter tyres for me.

Our esteemed member 'Rustynuts' is going to fit a used Columbus entertainment system for me (sat nav no DAB)

A nice surprise to find the car has the Stop/Start system fitted but maybe they all have this ?

8,000 miles, registered in april 2016 so balance of Skoda warranty, immaculate cond for £13,995.00 seemed like a good deal to me but you may know different ?

From the pic it looks as if it had Smartlink programmed in. If that's the case, you could have had it activated (£150'ish) and you could have then run Android Auto or Apple CarPlay from suitable phones, which provides Google Maps or Apple Maps.

When we ordered our SE I was all set to spec a satnav. Changed my mind when I saw Google Maps via AA and saved £600.

Needs 4G coverage but GM/AM are always up to date and give live traffic. Data costs just aren't an issue these days. Ours took us from Yorkshire to Lake Como last June, including a day in Milan. The data cost was included in the tariff but if I'd have had to pay, it would have cost around £35 for the mb's used.

Anyway, good luck and enjoy your new car

Good thinking 'Batman'. Should also be able to stream radio channels not on FM like Radio 5.

Can't speak to R5, but yes, Deezer, Spotify, TuneIn, PlayMusic etc

An old thread but I just bought a used yeti which was advertised and comes up in the insurance as a business spec but it doesn’t have sat nav and has the same stereo as in this thread

Meant to pick the car up tomorrow not sure what to do as this should be cheaper than advertised

I have a Yeti with Amundsen satnav and it is nowhere near as good as Waze or other smartphone app.

I only use smartphone apps via Android Auto now, more accurate and up-to-date than built in system.

I too have the Amundsen MIB2 ('16 Yeti) but never ever use the built in sat nav as Waze via Android Auto does the job infinitely better.

The same thing happened to me late last year - business edition advertised with amundsen satnav, but it was only a Bolero without DAB. In the end I negotiated a discount, and had the smartlink activated.

I use google maps/waze though apple car play. I also have the planet rock app (i guess other dab apps would do the same thing) which then lists all the dab stations to select. Works a dream.

Wow. Old thread. That was our 2nd Yeti, which in 2018 went in for a Karoq. Still using Smartlink/AA, now mainly for Waze but increasingly for music streaming. Currently trialling Spotify Premium, Amazon Music HD, and Tidal. Love the offering from the last 2 but TBH my ears and car/home kit likely only justify Spotify's 320/MP3. So after the trial I'll probably stick with that.

I am amazed how poor the sales men knowledge is - i was looking for exactly the same DAB radio and Satnav built in - i visited two Skoda dealers advertising said spec only to get there ( i could tell from the aeriel shape only) and both cars those features were absent - however got to say that i bought a white Black edition with both from Wings of Peterborough and the sales process was very smooth , knowlegeable and easy - they fitted the towbar and i have been happy as larry since !

We bought my wife a prereg Citigo. 25 miles on the clock and 5 months old.

It had a fancy paint finish and black alloy wheels  which made it stand out as it was the colour edition which they had priced in, but they did not notice it had the optional spare wheel and dab radio fitted until it went for pre delivery check. i had noticed both which was one of the reasons we bought it at the offer price as it should have been up to £500 more. They had to stick with the sale price we had agreed, which had been massively reduced shortly before to shift excess stock. They evenb valued our part exchange Fabia about £1k more than I expected.

Us 1, salesman 0!!

Probably better than a preggo Citireg with 5 months on the clock!
