Rev Counter Needle

Featured Replies

Since the dark mornings have descended upon us, I have noticed that the needle on my rev counter doesn't light up. Is the just a case of replacing a bulb in the clocks? If so, is it going to be a difficult job?

It won't be a bulb, it's an LED...

Might be worth trying a local electronics repair shop as Skoda will tell you to replace the cluster.

Excellent! They are less than five minutes drive from home for me. Do you mind me asking how much they charged?. Also did anything need resetting after the clocks were removed?

Sorry just seen the price on their website

they have gone up a bit, but its still excellent value compared to skoda. i chose to drive down and removed my own cluster in their car park.i think that saved about £40!!, so worth asking them to quote for bulb replacement only. dash data

took a couple of miles to settle down afterwards but no problems at all.

Are the clocks easy enough to remove? Is it just a case of pulling the trim off which is below the clocks, undoing some screws and removing the wiring connectors before removing the clocks themselves?

lower the steering wheel. carefully lever off the trims either side. undo the torx screws behind. insert a cd! between the top of the cluster and the dash, push in and the cluster will come out forwards. you dont need skodas "special tools". then just unplug the connection on the back and take it in to them. just make sure you dont switch the ignition on or off whilst its apart. practice it at home first if you want, literally a 5 minute job.http://workshop-manuals.com/skoda/octavia-mk2/vehicle_electrics/electrical_system/instruments_gci/dash_panel_insert/removing_and_installing_the_dash_panel_insert/

Thanks so much. Looks fairly straight forward.
