SE Sport order placed!

Featured Replies

Hey all,

So after spending ages researching and checking my finances I finally placed an order for an SE Sport!

My local stealers couldn't even be bothered to ring me back on multiple occasions and as they didn't have the car in stock to test drive, I looked else where.

After test driving at a stealers a little further away, I was smitten and to top it off, the dealer matched the online deals!

Assuming all goes well, I should have a new Octavia next month :)

What confused me is whilst going through the order, it showed MY17 against the selected stock. Didn't realise these were available?

Hey ho, can't wait!!!

Ah gotcha - literally thought it was 2017 models lol on the plus side at least the offer didn't result in getting old stock that they're truing to get rid of.

Presumably MY17 are not the facelift versions? I ordered mine about a month ago and quite liked the one that was in the showroom, I don't really want a facelifted one!

Correct.

Facelift car isnt in production until next March, and I doubt there will be an SE sport model. Its a bit of a run-out special for the current model.

Getting my Race Blue Estate on Tuesday

  • Author

Same here, Race Blue :)

I ordered on the 10th with a projected collection date of 30/11 - it's currently in Emden apparently.

I've been trying to look up as much info as possible on the spec and what comes with it - can't wait to pick her up.

It's a decent spec you get as standard.

My parents are thinking of going for one to replace their Superb which is coming up for replacement on the PCP. They have the basic S 1.4 TSI Superb II facelift, but now that my dad doesn't have a nice company BMW after retiring, they want something a bit more luxurious as their main car. They don't need the space of the Superb any more, now my brother has left for uni and they've just got my little sister still living at home. The standard SE doesn't have some of the things they feel are essential (cruise, MFSW, both of which the Superb II facelift had as standard), and navigation and xenon lights are on their 'nice to have' list, so the SE Sport ticks all the right boxes.

The only concern I have is the sports seats and possibly the ride- anyone got any thoughts on those? The website doesn't mention any suspension changes, and mum really liked the Octavia SE 2.0 TDI DSG she had a little while back as a hire car while hers was in the garage. Are the sports seats OK for them? They're late middle aged (don't tell them I said that!  :D ) but neither of them has a bad back which is good. I know sports seats on some cars can be a bit uncomfortable, I've told them to take a good test drive to make sure.

I went the route of Superb Mk2 to Octavia SE sport, was intending to go for an Octavia SE, but the extra value that came with the Sport version meant it was a no brainer, plus the good deal on my trade in and deposit contribution made it good value for money. The ride is pretty good, I run mine at 2.2 bar rather than the 2.5 Eco setting, and I have the standard 17" wheels rather than the bigger 18's, not a fan of large wheels and skinny tyres. The seats are comfortable for me, but things like that are subjective, I would think if you have a slightly large frame, they would feel a bit tight.

So far happy, the fuel tank is smaller than the Superb, so fill ups feel more frequent, but mpg is late 50's early 60's so no complaints on that front. The smaller mirrors take a bit of getting used to, I found the side vision a little narrow to start with.

I'm in a Fabia VRS MK1 at the moment and the SE Sport I test drive was out of this world in comparison.

Seats were extremely comfortable and I hadn't even messed with the adjustments etc.

Ride was smooth as butter.

The only thing I'll potentially miss, is the raw power/torque that the fabia has. That said, the power wasn't the focus of my test drive, it was the general drivability and based on reviews I don't think I'll be disappointed either way.

That's reassuring. I've told them to take it for a good test drive- their local dealer has one in.

I've ordered one in Corrida Red. Ordered on 17th October and yet to be given a build week...bit frustrated that others have got delivery dates already! Was told to expect 12 weeks from point of ordering which would take us into New Year. Sports seats on test drive were very comfortable, though I am relatively young and no back problems so can't really relate to a lot of people out there!

Haven't heard anything yet but keeping an eye on the ships expected to leave the port shows 3, today, tomorrow or the 26th.

Was told 30/11 when ordered...

I've had mine for 5 days now, 1.4 TSI in Grey and have already covered over 1000 miles and caked it in dirt!

No complaints so far, it's a very nice car. Seats are good, only thing I would mention is they don't have adjustable headrests, it's a one piece back rest. Supportive though and after a 500 mile round trip in one day, I still felt pretty fresh afterwards!

Surprisingly powerful for a 1.4, felt like a much larger diesel on the motorway, and pulls well in 6th gear. The engine is also unbelievably quiet, I can't tell the engine is on whilst at standstill, I have to check the rev counter! Did take me a while to be able to move off from traffic lights smoothly, probably me adapting to the car coming from a mk1 MX5 more than anything!!

Fuel economy I've averaged 54mpg which is pretty good considering there's been a fair amount of town driving/traffic jams.

Has all the toys you need and is like the tardis inside! So couldn't recommend it more at the moment!

Sounds great, I can't wait!

I loved how quiet the engine was when I test drove it. Looking forward to fiddling with the gadgets and no doubt tinkering with VCDS/OBDELEVEN.

I don't do many miles now and my Fabia VRS, whilst fun, is out dated, crap around town (apart from the funiversity pedal) etc. The 1.4 will be great i think.

You filled up yet? I didn't realise it's only 5 litres more than the fabia...

If you've got any pictures, I'd love to see them? Don't see many new SE Sports at the moment.

So... Gave Skoda UK a quick call, just to see if I could find out any info about the ship that's transporting my order and it turns out it's going to be a bit longer, i.e. "If you're lucky, you may get it before Christmas" instead of the end of November.

Meh :(

That's a pity

got mine tuesday
