One More Year To Keep My Citigo, until...

Featured Replies

HI all -

I've not posted for a while - been happily enjoying my Black Edition Citigo.

I have one more year until I have to decide whether to keep my car and pay Skoda the final payment OR hand it back.

OR at least that was the plan... :envy:

It was either the land-rover or the dustmen, but the car I've kept in perfect condition for 2 years now has a little dent above the wheel arch and the alloy is scratched in a couple of places. No insurance claim made and damage minimal.

But... surely the option to return my car has now passed?

Any thoughts?

Regards -

No, but you will need to get it repaired or VWFS will charge you for the damage when you return it

Understood. The damage is minimal, the dent I'll sort definately.

Is there anyway to gauge what the cost would be if there are any scratches on an alloy? After three years, you might expect some minor scratches or scrapes - especially on the wheels. Although, I'll likely wind up keeping - not sure I'd want to give it up.

There have been a few threads by people who've had vehicles inspected by VWFS over the last few months.

Might be worth a search on the forum

I was quoted £45 for a smart repair of an alloy at a Skoda dealer. If the damage is fairly light, you may get away with it. It all depends on the dealer. Try standing in front of the dent when you hand the car back :)

They send out a company who do a detailed check. Takes around 90 minutes iirc from the threads I've read

Sorry, when you said you have a choice between buying the car or handing it back, I assumed you are on a PCP deal, not a lease. My experience of PCP - having traded the car in for another - is that the dealer will give it a quick once over, but nothing more. I had a pretty noticeable scratch on on alloy and nothing was said.

Dreading my lease car going back.

A little battle scarred after 3 years / 70k of constant town driving / parking all day every day.

3 alloys marked with potholes.

In my defence though, I have not been in the car for any of the scuffs etc.

Our lease company is pretty anal with the inspection.

Out of nosiness can i ask what the total cost including deposit and monthlies is over 3 years to lease a Skoda Rapid that is going to cover 70,000 miles?

No idea I'm afraid. Company car lease.

Not my choice of car either, combination of bad luck and timing.

Has been, hands down, my absolute worst company car in 20 or so years.

Hope the new one comes pronto.

Familiarise yourself with the BVRLA's fair wear and tear guide, this is what VWFS (Skoda Financial Services) use.

You might be pleasantly surprised what is allowed. Dents, scratches and alloy wheel scuffs are all allowed (sizes etc. apply).
