help identify fuse in engine bay 1.8t

Featured Replies

Hey guys hopefully just a quick one for you. I have a fuse in the engine bay that constantly pops, the car runs sweet and all systems work fine so I have no idea what it's for. The fuse pops every time I turn the electrics on and is a 20 amp blade one. It is located (as you look from the front of the car) in the top right of the engine bay by the air intake under a panel box. I'll get a pic when I can.

Many thanks

Is this for a MK1 or MK2 ? as there are no 20amp blade fuses on the battery box fuse holder on a MK1

On the MK2 in the additional fusebox in the engine bay there are three 20 amp fuses  #1 Convenience electric central control unit, #11 Additional heater control unit, & #14 Ignition system

Hey mate, thanks for the reply! It's the mk1 AUQ engine (2002 reg) the fuse box I believe you're referring to is the box that sits on top of the battery, I'm referring to a box, that also has 2 relays in it, and sits above the MAF plug and next to the black box full of cables next to the n/S mount .

I've been flicking through pictures of these engines and it seems not everyone has this box, and those who do never have this fuse in it.

The part number for the holder is: 1jz 941 391 c

if you click this link, it will take you to a picture of the box in question, the fuse is located in the top slot of the 5 fuse slots directly under relay 428.

Many thanks :)

Ok the relays seem to be the ecm relay and the secondary air pump relay.

Thanks!

Is it an automatic gearbox?

Seems to be a thing called a brake vacuum pump, V192, that has a 20A fuse in that box?

Lovely, thanks for the reply guys, I ran a multi meter from the fuse slot to the plug on the vacuum pump and that confirmed it! Just need to source a new one now. Many thanks for your help :)
