Camshaft Sensor Replacement

Featured Replies

Hi Folks

Today for some reason my car had a problem starting and the engine light came on. It started but took 3 mins of trying cranking fine just no ignition. When driving it then cut out on me and took a little while for me to start but got her going again. From my error codes looks like I need to replace the crankshaft sensor. I have a 1.6 TDI 2010 model what the location for the sensor and is it a DIYable job? Here are my error codes. Had to have my EGR valve replaced a couple of months back so Iam hoping for a quick fix.

I'm afraid that the cam belt needs to be removed to fit a new cam sensor on the 1.6 cr engine.

Really!!!!!!! Do you have a diagram or picture just out of interest?

Also what’s the best way to locate my local VAG independent garage?

Its a shame as my Cam belt was fitted in April 2014 when the car had 37500 on the clock. So just short of 3 years old and the car now has 62000 on the clock. If Iam correct Skoda say 4 years or 60k which ever comes first. My heading is telling me get that all changed with the water pump all at the same time if it has to come off to put the sensor in. All tat for a £20 part swap out!!!! :notme:

Its gone into the garage this morning and they are going to have a scope of the electrics first and go from there. I will report the findings I think it is electrical as the car runs great once going and when it cuts out it would appear to be an electrical cut rather than mechanical.

So my problem was all electronic. Brakes in the loom that runs near the radiator.

3hrs of labour at £65 per hour + Vat copy of the invoice attached interested to see what you think of the bill.
