Coops' First Road Bike

Featured Replies

Still looking, taking my time.

Probably going to stick with a lower spec bike initially, don't want to fork out loads of money. Definitely can't afford a carbon one!

Should be some good bikes going up for sale after xmas, I found a few new Boardman bikes for sale on eBay for around 60% of RRP. I'm now looking for an additional bike to use over winter hahahah, I don't want to get the new one all dirty

It's a 2014 Boardman Road Comp and gets good reviews across the board. Has been very well looked after, hardly a mark on it and the original bar tape is virtually new.

For my abilities and requirements the spec is adequate, there is obviously room for upgrade as (and if) I get more into it:

Aluminimum frame with carbon forks

FSA Velo compact chainset

Shimano Sora 9sp gearset

Mavic CXP-22S wheels

E4P finishing kit - bars, stem, post and saddle

Got the pedals and trip computer chucked in as well.

Very nice, my mate has a couple of boardmans, they seem like good bits of kit.

Enjoy

It looks great and I'm sure you'll find it works well, when I was choosing a road bike I was planning a carbon one with a 105 or Ultegra groupset but then hired an aluminium road bike with Tiagra which I found great.  It was still way lighter than my mountain bikes and rocketed along the road on its skinny tyres, I've since changed the bike but simply to get hydraulic disc brakes as I've gone for another aluminium frame.

Due to work, holidays, weather, kids etc I only managed to get out on this for the first time at the weekend.

Did a 12 mile route with my mate, just to break into things.

Managed to get my hands on a 2nd hand turbo trainer, bought some lights.
