Direct Hoses Power Washer Review

Featured Replies

After a couple of outings with the DirectHoses PW; i wasnt impressed with the water inlet hose connections.

The main issue was that washer wouldnt sit properly an on occasion a small drip of water was visible.

After speaking to Marcus at DH; he offered to send out a new style brass fitting he is looking to use.

Tried it today and much much better.... great customer service as always

I use this type of connector on my Nilfisk, if you would take a bit of advice given from a victim of a failure of this type of connector, I would Loctite that brass screw in.

My one vibrated loose and disappeared onto the pavement somewhere without me noticing, so when I undid it from its connection, the collar shot off and the spring and ball-bearings inside promptly went on to play a game of hide and seek.

Have a new fitting on there now that I have Loctited, no problems since.

Hope it helps,

Phil.

Just to follow-up on the DH All Black-8 unit.

Over the weekend - i finished converting 2 of my old foam lances from Karcher to the quick release 11.6mm fitting.

Ebay links below (male & female options):-

Also - i took a gamble and ordered a whole new foam lance from China..... <£11 delivered!!!

Tested it yesterday...... all good, only minor issue - the foam bottle is not as transparent as others.

Look like a decent little unit.

FYI the gauge fitted is designed for hydraulic applications and is filled with glycerine or some other thick liquid to dampen the needle. You will always get an air bubble as they are never 100% filled but usually they are mounted vertically so you would never see it.

How you finding this presssure washer guys ?

need to replace my broken nilfisk and was tempted to go for a Kranzle k10 but would rather spend less.

hows the short lance in operation ? Never  used a short one so not sure how it performs and feels ?

ive read you need to do oil changes, are there any guides on how to change it ?

id only be using it at home from mains water supply

do you know if the brass inlet connector pictured above is now standard in the kit ?

thanks

Mine is still going well and i'm glad i changed thats for sure.

For the money i think it is definitely worth the money.

There are details about oil changes in the manual;

but also DirectHoses support is very good.

I might send mine back to them at the right time for oil change and service.

Marcus and his team have been spot on so far with support, queries etc.

On the brass fitting - i understand this is standard.

I got plastic initially; and made comments about the poor quality - so they sent brass and said future units would have this.

Hi mate

yep , Ordered Monday, arrived Thurday

not had chance to test it yet though, but box all sealed  etc

no problems here

theres a new discount code over on DW

Well would you Adam & Eve it :D but my Karcher K 3.86 broke yesterday  after washing 3 vehicles & been used at least every 2 weeks minimum (8-9 years old) to clean cars etc & garden patio's/slabs from time to time.

A good friend/neighbour has given me a Karcher K2 compact to keep as he don't use the PW anymore B) which is really nice of him  so I can't complain but seeing that I use a PW a lot of the time I'm kind of looking to buy one in due course.

The K2 will do the job but is quite loud compared to my K 3.86.

My K 3.86 seems to either be a bush issue or a motor issue as there is no water pressure coming out, just a straight line of water? I was looking at a new Karcher but to be honest, I don't actually like the look of them! Also was looking on Ideal TV at a spear & jackson http://www.idealworld.tv/gb/pp/product-402015

So then I remember this thread from chubbs & samuir that both have these All Black 8 PW B) & they seem to be very happy with the product & service.

I would just like to know a few things that seem to be putting me off the unit but hopefully my concerns can be addressed with the correct knowledge from users that have these units.

1) How long is the warranty for on the All black 8 units? (Says 1 year on the website but Karcher offer 2 or 3 years)?

2) How often do you have to change the oil in the units? (This is a main factor for me, as I don't want to be changing it often & is this something the end user can do! or does it mean sending it away for a service) so postage could be a cost factor & being without the unit for a while) Have read its like every 100hrs of use & 500hrs for the motor use replacement?

http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=387265&page=2

3) Is the brass fitting been addressed & do they come as standard with the units now.

4) Is the aftercare service from directhoses any good? I've read a few mixed feelings on DW.

5) I take it the bubble in the pressure gauge is nothing to worry about & it's meant to do that?

6) Can I use my existing Karcher K series snow foam bottle attachment with the new All black 8 PW? (Do I have to buy anything separately or does it come with the attachment to convert in the box) from the website:

Whats in the box ???

  • Adapter to convert your existing Snow Foam Lance
  • Karcher K Series accessories adapter

Thanks guys & sorry for the questions

I'm looking at the £154.99 unit but with the 15m hose length £174.99 all in but using code Laura0317 it comes to £164.50 inc delivery which is pretty decent.

https://www.directhoses.net/collections/electric-pressure-washer/products/copy-of-directhoses-all-black-8-electric-pressure-washer-upgraded-wire-reinforced-hose-quick-fit

As I've mentioned, I'm not in a mega rush so respond when you guys can (No rush) B) It's just something that personally I use quite often as most of you guys do too.

Thanks

I'm happy with the All Black 8 for sure. I only use for car detailing, so wont comment on patio work;

but obviously its not a "wheeled unit" so less portable perhaps.

On your questions...

1) 1 year as i understand it.

2) 100 hours before oil change

3) Yes - i believe so; i was one of the initial guys to campaign for this update!

4) I have had no issue with The DH guys using phone and email.

Marcus and the team are not on FB all day and seems to have upset those who need immediate response!

5) Bubble is not an issue and required by design.

6) Karcher adapter should be ok; but can initially be very tight.

The quick release fitting is cheap on eBay as well and easily changed.

Hope this helps. Anything else - just ask.

Managed to fix the Karcher today B) It was just the motor sticking on the K3.86 but ended up striping out the old Karcher K3.86 & took out the cylinder head, replaced that in a knackered Karcher K.3.99 as the cylinder head was leaking & hey presto  everything is back up & working so good job I waited! but if the Karcher should fail anytime soon, then I think it will be time for the direct hoses PW

Glad you got it sorted buddy - nice result.

Has anybody managed to contact Direct Hoses recently?

I bought a snow foam lance of them in December, it broke after one use in January and I emailed them with pictures and they said they'd send a replacement one out straight away and that was January!!  Loads of emails sent and ignored and I try ringing them at least 3 or 4 times a day and have only ever got the answer phone (or the engaged tone) and I'm fed up of leaving messages as not once have they rung me back.

Really p****d off with them, either they've gone bust or they are the worst company ever for customer service. Based on my experience I wouldn't recommend them to my worst enemy!!

Apparently there is a messenger link on their Facebook page, (can't confirm this as I don't use Facebook).

I was looking at one of these myself, but the threads over on detailing world have done enough to warn me off due to concerns of customer service very similar to Fishcann, where one of their units has apparently let go. I know anything can fail no matter how well it is built, but for £200+ I should not have to join social media to get some customer service, that is what email and the telephone are for.

I am now looking at a Kranzle, costs a bit, but apparently they last for years.

Sorry to hear that David.

So far so good with mine 6 months in.

But of course mine wont take the hammering yours probably gets.

If you dont hear back from DH/Marcus in a timely fashion then let me know - i'll do what i can.

I feel especially bad as i made the recommendation initially - based on hearing good things.

No problem - HTH.

They have always tried to help when i've had an issue in the past - no matter how small.

I do feel that they have been let down here by the supplier quality; and they will support customers as much as possible.

I spoke too soon...it's knackered, just won't pump water! Call made to the number you provided Ste and voicemail left. The wait begins....in the meantime I'm borrowing a Kranzle.
