Squeeky Brakes

Featured Replies

I haven't had a chance to look been busy at work but SWMBO state the brakes are squeeeking really bad on braking. Now the cars on 28k brakes still original.

I was wondering if this is the metal prongs that indicate low pads that you get on some cars (does the skoda have these on the vrs?)

Or is it just crud making them squeeeeeeeeek.

might be crud, depending on your braking style the pads should be ok with 28k on them

More than likely caused by a small wear lip on the edge of the disc. Catches the edge of the pad and makes a squealing noise.

Mine were sqeeking at 30k, and when it went for it's service, I got them to knock the crud off the outside of all the discs (for free ;) ) Mind you I think it was only the fronts making the noise.

They have been fine for the last 5k, haven't heard a peep out of them

Cheers guys super efficient as always.

Been away for a bit changing jobs.......BUT it is nice to hve you still aroung Lummox

On a vRS it is quite easy to see the caliper & with a bit of help from a small mirror look to see how much pad is left. I do this after every session at a track day as track use can see the pads disappear in less than 1000 miles
