Not A good day !

Featured Replies

Hi All

Jenny took the dogs to Hornsea beach yesterday .... & on the way back this happened, repairable or not ? The tow bar has taken much of the force which has pushed the rear inner panel back, the spare does come out OK but is a little tighter than before !!! In pic 2 & 3 you can just make out a crease in the upper rear drivers side panel,  Jenny & doggies are all OK Thank god. The **** that caused it said that she braked hard even thou she was stationery at a roundabout waiting to turn left !!! Good job I wasn't there !!! Car is booked in Monday to be assessed, Pi--ed off is an under statement !!!

Good Luck.

Our 2006 2L FSI estate was written off with what appeared to be the same amount of damage.

Estimate was £3750 and was more than the cars worth.

I'd say that's pretty bleak looking if the quarters and boot floor have gone. :(

Thats some impact to bend the towbar & put a crease in the rear quarter, sadly id say thats a write off if the cars a 2009,may be wrong though...

Yep I'm thinking the same Mike, its the middle beam of the tow bar that's bent it was a similar shape to the crash bar... it certainly isn't now !!! The force has jammed the detachable in its holder

Paul, you'll probably find the impact sufficient enough to bend the cross member of the tow bar frame has pulled the ends of the chassis in too where the rest of the frame bolts to. That will have pull the rear wings and buckled the boot floor pan.

UPDATE !!

Just heard back from the body shop.... she is repairable including a new tow bar   Just waiting for the OK from insurers ...

Bad luck, makes you wonder how far the damage would have impacted without the tow bar taking the brunt of the impact, good news on the repairable front, hopefully you had declared the tow bar on your insurance
