Fog lights aim?

Featured Replies

Is it possible to adjust the aim of the fog lights?

My left fog light is pointing wayy too high.

I don't think so. I once hit a pheasant and it bent the bracket slightly, enough to throw out the aim.

I think my car hit or got hit by something in the past. Dunno how exactly.

Remove the grill to gain access to the back of the fog light (for when changing a bulb etc.) and see if there is excess movement of the light unit, if so one or more of the clips might be broken?

Or if something is bent you might be able to bend it back?

This video is of a facelift Octavia with the combined fog/DRL cluster, however the method for removing the black plastic access panel is the same...

Thanks, I saw the video but I thought they might be different from the FL version.

I will try to remove the grill and have a look when I have the time. On the surface when I feel the fog light assembly it seems to be firm and it won't move at all when I push on it. I guess it may well be the bumper that makes it point upwards.

I fixed it today.

For future reference. The hex screw on top of this picture is the adjuster. Screw it in to lower the aim, screw it out to raise the aim.

My adjuster broke off the plastic assembly housing today because I tried screwing it in while the whole assembly was so dirty it was stuck. so be sure to take the fog light out first, clean the back side a little bit (it will be obvious how it works then).

Thanks for your useful information on fog lamp adjustment.

Once I realised that it could be done merely by pulling out the small (15cm/6") black plastic air vent slot (immediately adjacent to the fog lamp) and exposing the torex adjustment screw, life was very simple!  As you say, to lower the beam turn clockwise and to raise it, anti-clockwise.  Why couldn't the garage that fitted the car with a new 'bumper'  be bothered to get the fog lamps correctly adjusted?

What's the black lead that is plugged in afterwards?

Anyone who have a picture of this? I need to adjust one of the fogs on my Mk2 (2012).
