Hello from South Uist

Hello to all,

 

I've been a lurker on here for a while, and have already read a lot of interesting threads, so thought it was time to register and say hi. So I've currently got a 2001 Octavia estate 1.9 in blue, its pushing around 105k miles, I bought it off a family member last year who owned it from new so I'm only the second owner, its the work-horse and daily commute car really, I've just sold my A3 recently and planning to be in the market for a Mk2 VRS facelift soon, but hoping to leave it until the depths of winter are over, thats if I can stay off autotrader for more than 5 minutes. 

 

Would probably be fair to say we're a Skoda family, both my parents have Skodas, my dad, a 65 plate petrol Octavia VRS estate in silver and my mum a 2005 Fabia, and my Octavia was replaced by a Suberb estate 2.0 TDI by my uncle when I bought his off him. I sold my A3 locally and I live on a wee island off the north west coast of Scotland, so I'm seeing it on the road every day as I work as a driver, I'm trying not to miss it too much, but its not working!!

Thanks, and yeah for its age its in excellent condition, it had been well looked after by uncle before I bought it and it's been fairly trouble free bar a window regulator and a repair to the climatronic system.

That fog was like pea soup, and didn't clear for the whole day either!

So, here's some proof that I have absolutely no will-power whatsoever, I picked this up a few weeks ago; my excuse for not waiting any longer being that it was for sale in Glasgow and myself and a couple of friends were over there for a concert so it was the perfect opportunity, too good to miss!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

This is my 3rd week with the car now, but the weather has been that horrendous recently that this morning was the first time I've had the opportunity to give it a quick wash and get some half decent pictures,

 

Its the 2.0 TSI engine, with a manual box, interior has the all black trim / seats with red stitching and heated seats, its also got xenon headlights for dipped beam and a few other bits, the only thing its really missing is the maxidot display. Its fitted with front and rear optical parking sensors, but quite honestly they're just annoying, they seem to give 'phantom' beeps when they feel like it and at random when the car is no where near anything which is quite annoying, to the point where I'm usually just hitting the button to turn them off as I put it into reverse.
