Skoda Rapid 2015 Gearbox Oil Clarification

Featured Replies

Hi,

My Car Skoda rapid 2015 petrol engine

Vin Number is

Is gearbox oil need to change, and the mileage to change.

Or not "life time service".

Thanks

As above, if anyone has insight into the change cycle for the gearbox oil, if not a sealed unit, would be good to know.

Can't speak for the other gearboxes, but the 5-speed manuals (02R and 02T) are filled with oil for life.

There is a procedure to check for the oil level and refill if need be, however if everything is normal the level will never drop.

They have no set service life interval.

A decent guide would be a change at 40k or 4 years though, sooner or later shouldn't do any harm.

The oil usually comes out pretty clean, the only reason contaminants are present tends to be failed gearbox internals.

Gold plumes for damaged/worn baulk rings or silver fragments for gear/bearing damage but the internal magnet catches most of them.
