Further to observation of a side effect of my steering rod problem (different thread), which are inner track rod ends seizing/sticking due to lack/failure of lubrication (the ends are those located in the boots of the steering rack)

I have noticed that when the inner track rod end sticks, it causes a very great increase in current demanded of the power steering pump (to overcome the stiction), making the system voltage dip consideably.

Maybe you have similar sticky track rods which along with a weak battery could trigger pump shutdown.
