Hi has any one got a fix for no audio on bluetooth, radio, or DVD but navigation maps ok. Also language has changed to German. Is this a software or hardware problem. The Skoda dealer wants to charge me $8300.00 to replace unit.

There might be two problems here.

First problem with the language in German, could be a software corruption, or a hard drive failure, or even mainboard failure. Second problem with no sound, could be something as simple as your unit has lost its coding for the sound system (if you have it installed), or I've had that problem with the radio board faulty.

 

So, bestcase scenario is reload the software and recode the unit correctly, and it all works again. Or it might be that the mainboard and radio board are fried, in which case it's a new unit I'm afraid. Or anything in between.

 

More sinister... I'm not sure what the exchange rate is for Aus $$$ to UK £££, but $8300.00 sure sounds like more than the car might be worth.

I checked shipping costs from UK to Oz and it's actually not as scary as I expected. Somewhere like £35 economy shipping, then insurance on top of that at maybe £20 or so.

Thank you for your reply. I was a bit sus about the price. I can get a new unit in Australia for $375.00. But before I go down that road I will try and reload the software. Do you know were I can get a copy of the correct software and how to load it.

I think the software is the same as the European units, but if you can check the label on the top of the unit and report on the SW number that'd be a big help. Also, there's a fair chance you might need to reload the maps, so you'd need to locate a recent version maps disc.
