Good cars, latest DPF systems are very good at doing their job. Water pumps were revised 2014 and again in late 2014, so check for signs this work has been carried out (it wasn't a recall) Check coolant level and coolant for signs of scum etc. It it's manual, check all gears (especially) 1 st to 2nd and reverse are easy to select, a few users found low gears and reverse to be a bit notchy. If it's DSG auto listen for whining or clunks when the box shifts gears (clutch packs have been revised three times.)

If your annual mileage requires a diesel fine, if not, try to find same vehicle with a 1.4 or 1.2 TSI engine. Better performance with similar MPG and less to go wrong.

HTH.

Wort part has to be performance. Could not have lived with such a weak engine.

Testdrive and make up your mind.
