Came across this video on youtube and already coded this trick.

Very useful if you have bright number plate LEDs - they can burn your retina when you open the trunk while CH/LH is active.

And it's also visible if the trunk was not shut properly (with active CH/LH).

Instead of "Luggage compartment light" you can also take (In german its called:) "Heckdeckel offen". I dont know, if its in english version also named "Heckdeckel offen", or like "trunklid open" or else. 

This function is better for dimming in this situation, because Luggage compartment light is only active, when lighting inside car is active.
