Could dpf have gone without a light on?

Featured Replies

Too much oil in sump, reving on it own and flat spotting when reving hard. All signs of a nakered dpf but I have never had a forced regen? Any ideas?

Too much oil can only be there if someone put in too much engine oil,  so is it Engine oil & Diesel Oil that is in the sump.

Yeah that's what I Ment it will be a mixture of oil and diesel which points to dpf

A sensor maybe on its way out and giving a false reading meaning its trying to regenerate all the time. I am presuming you drive far enough for it to be able to complete a regen?

Yeah I make sure I run it every now and again to try and prevent problems. I have never had a regen light in the 4 years I have had the car.

You don't get any warning when the car is forcing a regen. Your car will have been forcing regens at least every tank of fuel so you will of had plenty in 4 years.

The warning light is only there to make you take action when the DPF is starting to get blocked.

You need somebody that knows what they are doing to diagnose the issue.

Yeah get what ya saying but wouldn't I have a light on to say it's blocked? If it was regenning without a problem then why am I getting the problems I'm having?

I seem to remember you wanted a DPF removal after a remap, i take it you never had that done, or is this a different car?

Erm probably mate can't remember now. Been a good few years since the map. Still have the dpf and like I said, I thought it wasn't causing any problems up to now.
