Changing projector headlights for reflector units on a facelift model.

Featured Replies

I am seriously considering changing the projector units for reflectors. Physically this is not a problem, other than having to take the bumper off, but the fact that the dip stays on when main beam is on with the projectors, but not on the reflector units, is. It is not feasible to have main and dip running together with an H4 bulb because they would run too hot and blow in short order. I am assuming that changing this is a coding issue, can anyone confirm this and, if so, provide details of what to change?

Having just resolved the lighting issue in my Roomster I can recommend £35-40 of HID kit, it would be MUCH simpler and probably give a much better result.

Thank you for that, but I do not wish to fit HIDs for various reasons, mostly legal, and I really don't want this thread to turn into a discussion on the pros and cons of HIDs.

I hear you!

Believe me, I had very similar very strong negative thoughts about HIDs (legal reasons because of work and I also didn't want to look like a boy racer in a modded Corsa)

I have spent the past 6 months wasting money on Nightbreaker type bulbs and hours and hours searching the internet for solutions such as fitting FL headlamps with new bumpers to match, retro fitting old style h4 reflectors and working out how to amend the headlamp connections etc etc.

I ended up with HIDs at the end of a long fight to find another solution.

I had my HIDs fitted and set up by the local (strict and sadistic) MOT tester. I picked the normal headlamp 'yellowish' 4300k, and I don't get flashed.

No pros or cons, that's up to you ... this just documents MY personal journey to HIDs
